Tom's Ironman Challenge 2024 for FCN My name is Tom York, and in 2024 I will be completing an Ironman raise money and awareness for FCN

It’s today, so I thought I’d give you an insight into my active day on the farm!

Harvest this year is a strange one! Very stop start, work coming in waves, and that can put a lot of stress onto Agribusinesses!

Remember today to and , and celebrate the hard work that those who work in Agriculture put in 365 days of the year!

£8,000 raised! Thank you so much everyone! The Farming Community Network Lynda Eadon

Apologies for being quiet on here, the last 2 weeks have been extremely busy for me.

I hope you can all take some inspiration from my journey whether that be physically or mentally.

Will this be the end? Absolutely not. Would I happily do it all over again? Absolutely!

Finally, if we could reach £8,000 by the time the Just Giving page closes I would be so grateful!

*For those confused, there is 2 just giving pages. I am basically fundraising for my own page, hence why one says £6,000 raised and the other says over £7,500!

UK Ultimate Triathlon

2.4 mile swim 🏊
112 mile bike 🚲
26.2 mile run 🏃‍♂️

Official time: 12:29:05

Here’s some lessons I learnt:

1️⃣ Your mind will take you to places unimaginable, it’ll teach you what your body is really capable of. The physical pain is bearable, but zoning out and reminding yourself why you chose to do it and what you are doing it for is the most powerful tool you can have.

2️⃣ You don’t need to stop on the bike if you need the toilet…

3️⃣ Motivation will get you started. Discipline and mental resilience will get you finished.

4️⃣ Manage your time. “I don’t have the time to do it” is a cop out. You can make time if you plan and adjust correctly.

5️⃣ Support. Create a support around you that will pick you up when you are at your lowest point. Having my friends and family around me reminded me that it’s not just me completing this, it’s everyone who has supported me throughout the process.

Thank you to everyone that came down and supported me. Thank you Lynda Eadon and Andy for coming down, it was so amazing to meet you both! Thank you The Farming Community Network for supporting me throughout this process. Thank you to my coach. Thank you to everyone who donated. I cannot send enough thanks.

P.S Ironmans are fu***ng tough! There’s a reason less than 1% of the population will ever do one.

For those wanting to come down and watch next Sunday, please see details below:

Date: June 30th
Start time: 6:30am
Expected finish time: 6:30/7:00pm (very rough idea)

Please see details below for parking. I will be doing the bike loop 4 times, planning to start cycling at roughly 8:00am and finish at 2:00pm. I’d highly recommend coming after I’ve got off the bike, as there will be much more chance to catch me.

I believe many will base at the Boathouse Pub, which is perfectly situated on the run course, and has a pretty nice beer garden…

Hopefully see a few of you there!

**IRONMAN SWEEPSTAKE**

Hello all,

To add a few pennies to the bank, I’ve decided a ‘guess my finish time’ sweepstake would be a fun aspect to add to my race.

For those that don’t understand, the aim of this is to guess my finish time for the total event. This will include a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run.

To help you out, I have included some statistics below:

Men’s Ironman world record: 7:12:12s
Women’s Ironman world record: 8:24:31s

Average Ironman finish time: 12:35min

I did a half Ironman 3 weeks ago and finished in 5:30min, it’s not quite as simple as doubling this.

To enter, please donate to the link below, a minimum of £5 per entry, and one entry valid per person. Please add your time prediction to the comments, or comment below and I will add it to the spreadsheet.

The winner will receive a £30 gift voucher of their choice, to spend on whatever they wish.

I hope as many of you will get involved, and I’m excited to see what your predictions are!
