🤜 2 Timothy 2:15 🤛
"Study to show yourself approved unto YHWH, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." 📜📖🔍

The word "study" in the original Greek is spoudazo, which means to be eager, to exert oneself, to give diligence. This is not just about reading Scripture casually; it’s about pursuing YHWH’s truth with zeal, discipline, and intention. It means letting His Word shape your mind, your actions, and your heart.

Psalm 119:11
"I have treasured Your word in my heart, so I might not sin against You."

Rightly dividing the Word of Truth calls for careful handling, discerning its meaning in context, understanding its historical and cultural setting, and recognizing the spiritual message of restoration and righteousness. The Scriptures are not just words on a page, they are living, breathing instructions for life.

Proverbs 4:4
"He taught me and said to me, 'Let your heart lay hold of my words, keep my commands and live!'"

When we engage the Word, we are called not only to understand it but to live it. Faith without works is dead, but faith expressed through obedience is alive and powerful. This kind of study changes lives, breaking chains of deception and building unshakable foundations of truth.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13
"So now, O Israel, what does YHWH your God require of you, but to fear YHWH your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve YHWH your God with all your heart and with all your soul, to keep the commandments of YHWH and His statutes that I am commanding you today, for your own good?"

1 Samuel 15:22
"Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to pay heed than the fat of rams."

The more we seek His Word with diligence, the more we hear His voice and recognize His ways.

Jeremiah 29:13
"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

Proverbs 2:4-6
"If you seek her [wisdom] as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, then you will know the fear of YHWH and discover the knowledge of God. For YHWH gives wisdom. Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding."

Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path

The Bible is not just a book of knowledge, it is the blueprint of freedom, wisdom, and eternal life.

Proverbs 3:18
"She [wisdom] is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and blessed will be all who hold her tightly."

Psalm 19:7
"The Torah of YHWH is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of YHWH is trustworthy, making the simple wise."

Deuteronomy 30:19-20
"I call the heavens and the earth to witness about you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you and your descendants may live, by loving YHWH your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him."

Shalom to you all.

You can’t curse what Yehovah has blessed.

When Paul wrote to Timothy, urging him to "study to show yourself approved" (2 Timothy 2:15), it’s essential to recognize that the books we now call the "New Testament" hadn’t been compiled yet. This means Paul wasn’t referencing these newer writings but rather the Scriptures available in his day—what we commonly call the "Old Testament" or, more accurately, the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh.

Paul, trained as a Pharisee, was deeply rooted in the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings. He consistently pointed back to these texts as the foundation for faith and righteous living. The Torah contains Yehovah’s instructions given at Sinai, forming the very framework of His covenant with Israel. Since Paul upheld these Scriptures as divinely inspired (2 Timothy 3:16), he could not have taught that we no longer need to keep them. Instead, he frequently warned against man-made traditions that distorted Yehovah’s commands (Mark 7:6-9, Colossians 2:8).

The word Paul uses, often translated as "study" or "be diligent," implies an active, intentional pursuit of truth. He wasn’t calling for a casual reading but a deep examination of the Torah, the wisdom of the Prophets, and the psalms—because these writings reveal Yehovah’s character, His standards for righteousness, and His covenant faithfulness. Yeshua Himself affirmed that the Torah and the Prophets testify about Him (John 5:39), showing that studying these Scriptures leads to a deeper understanding of Messiah.

Paul’s letters constantly reference the Torah. His teachings on sin, atonement, and grace all build on its foundation. He never opposed Yehovah’s instructions but instead upheld them (Romans 3:31). When he tells Timothy to “study,” he’s calling all believers to root themselves in the Scriptures that reveal Yehovah’s laws and His plan for redemption. These texts were foundational for the early followers of Yeshua and remain just as vital for us today.

Why we plant seeds of faith: It’s not just about the immediate fruit they bear but about encouraging a continual cycle of growth and multiplication. Every seed we sow in faith has the potential to grow, flourish, and produce even more seeds. (And all it takes is a mustard seed 🥰)

Romans 10:17
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of YHWH.”

Every time we share the message of the Messiah, we plant seeds of faith. We are helping others build spiritual foundations that last.

Keep tending to these seeds! Scripture tells us, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” We are messengers of peace, bearers of hope, and cultivators of life through the truth we share.

Remember, the journey of faith is like the growth of a seed. The day you plant it is not the day you see its fruit. Patience, humility, and dedication are essential to care for our spiritual gardens. Water them with love and faith, and in due time, you’ll see the abundant harvest of what YHWH has grown.

Shalom!
