📢...We would like to share an important letter from Fr. Jimmy Bartolo SJ, Secretary for Education of the Society of Jesus, with you. Please see a brief excerpt below and a link to the whole letter.

“It is with a mix of deep gratitude and genuine optimism that I share two important updates regarding the leadership of Educate Magis.
Ciara Beuster, Associate Director of Educate Magis, recently informed us of her plans to leave the organization to explore new personal and professional opportunities.
Dave Smith, Global Community Director, has also shared his intention to complete his 2-year term and retire at the end of 2026”.

With these announcements coming in close succession and the decision, in alignment with the new Educate Magis Apostolic Plan, to combine the two roles, we recognize the importance of a thoughtful and effective transition to ensure the recruitment and selection of a talented new Global Community Director for Educate Magis. Therefore, as Secretary of Education, Fr. Jimmy will be personally involved in overseeing this process.

Below, we share the official letter from Fr. Jimmy Bartolo SJ where he expresses his gratitude, optimism and plans for a smooth transition.

📌...In December 2023, Father General informed the global Society of Jesus of the launch of a new training and formation programme for all apostolic works/areas of the Society of Jesus. This programme is intended to complement the many high-quality safeguarding initiatives already implemented in Jesuit schools and other Jesuit educational works worldwide. The programme was inaugurated within the apostolic area of school education and, while acknowledging the essential role of protocols and policies, it places its primary emphasis on the development of a consistent culture of protection.

A distinctive feature of this training is the integration of Ignatian spirituality with contemporary safeguarding science. As Jesuit schools, our response to the protection of children and adolescents must be grounded in our Ignatian charism. Ignatian spirituality offers interpretative frameworks and practical tools that are particularly valuable in this regard. Moreover, these spiritual perspectives are often closely aligned with scientific research on effective strategies for the prevention of abuse and the mitigation of harm in and from school contexts.

🎥...In this video, Fr John Guiney SJ, Coordinator of the "Promotion of a Consistent Culture of Protection (PCCP)" programme, shares early results following the completion of Course 1 across several regions, which are highly positive and encouraging.

⏰...Cohort Course Starts on March 5th!

"Introduction to Ignatian Global Citizenship Education"

The course will be delivered in English and in Spanish. ✅

📌SPANISH: https://www.educatemagis.org/es/group/ciudadania-global-ignaciana-marzo-2026/

Deepen your understanding of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and strengthen your ability to put Ignatian values into action in today’s interconnected context.

GCE is not an optional add‑on but a vital component of Ignatian pedagogy, as it aligns directly with our mission to form individuals who seek to build a more just and humane world.

Rooted in the Jesuit tradition of reflection, action, and service, GCE helps students grasp global issues, develop empathy for others, and cultivate the skills needed to respond thoughtfully and ethically. By integrating global perspectives into teaching, we prepare young people to understand—and transform—the world they inhabit.

🕯️...Lent is a time for conversion, a time for change and inner growth to which we are all invited: teachers, administrators, students, and parents.

One path for this conversion is through self-examination and reconciliation with God, with our neighbour and with creation.

In this short video, some members of our Global Apostolic Community briefly talk to us about the threefold dimension of reconciliation.

May the Lord accompany us during this Lenten season, so that we may benefit from it as much as possible and ultimately become more like our Creator.
