Northeast Ohio CISV

CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world. CISV Northeast Ohio was founded in 1963. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year.

CISV is a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation and understanding. Founded in 1950, today CISV is a federation of 60 Member Associations with over 200 Chapters or local groups. In over 60 years we have given countless children and young people the experience of their lives and the opportunity to build lasting friendships through our international educational programs. Our innovative, fun, non-formal peace education 'learning by doing' programs begin with our original and unique Village program for 11-year-olds. We offer an exciting blend of seven international camp-based, family exchange and local community programs. We aim to help our participants develop the skills they need to become informed, responsible and active global citizens and make a difference in their communities and the world. The glue that underpins all of our programs is friendship, in line with our founding belief that peace is possible through friendship and mutual understanding. Our purpose:

CISV has a vision of a more just and peaceful world; we believe that we can all take responsibility for making this happen. This vision gives us a strong purpose, or mission, which is summed up clearly in our Statement of Purpose: CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world. Our values:
Friendship
Inclusiveness
Enthusiasm
Engagement
Cooperation

It is with a heavy heart, Northeast Ohio CISV is sharing the news of Karen Hack’s passing. Karen was a devoted member of our chapter for many years. Introduced to CISV by her friend, Tracy former Chapter President, Karen became a familiar face at meetings and events. In her 20 years of service to the chapter Karen had numerous roles, most notably the Chapter Secretary. She also served as the Camp Nurse when we hosted programs and kept much of the Chapter’s history organized. Karen was a friend to all and devoted to the mission of CISV. She will be greatly missed.

Share memories & support the family
