Born in Delhi and brought up all over India, Ripu Daman is a marathoner, traveler, blogger, and an entrepreneur. During a successful 8-year corporate and startup journey, he constantly was looking for a platform to give back to the society and mother nature. Having started Ploggers Of India in 2017, he moved out of the startup where he was leading Asia ops and sales, to focus full time on growing this people’s movement.
His love affair with the environment has been further catalyzed by his solo travelling and running journey. He believes that we all need to learn to ‘leave our footprints, and not carbon footprints’. He travels all over India to organize plogging drives and raise actionable awareness to beat single use plastic. And, his biggest focus is to engage kids in plogging as he believes that habits inculcated at that age are going to last a lifetime and they are going to be the leaders of change - A positive change!
RD as he is fondly referred to, wants to make India a country of ploggers i.e. responsible citizens who take responsibility of the plastic and trash around them rather than blaming the government and agencies. When asked about what he intends to achieve with Ploggers Of India, he brought to light how plogging being such a simple activity can solve the problem of littering in our country “Plogging is a means to the end. We engage kids and adults alike in plogging and the awareness that gets generated when you bend down to clean other people’s litter is unmatched. The newly doctrined ploggers then take a pledge to make small lifestyle changes to use own jhola and bottle everywhere and refuse single use plastic”, said Ripu Daman. On a lighter note, he wants to make ‘cleaning up other people’s s**t the coolest thing to do in India’.
- He has been featured on American News and radio as India's first #plogger - Plogging is named the Top fitness trend of India by the Smart Life (By The Week magazine) - Global media agencies like BBC, Buzzfeed, Brut have named Ploggers Of India as the foremost plogging community on the globe - He drove India's first plogging bus (a la pacing bus) at a major run with Tata Steel Kolkata 25K - He plogged at the recently concluded Tata Mumbai marathon. The total distance came out to be 48K, which is potentially the longest non-stop plogging anywhere in the world
