We’re proud to introduce the exceptional Class of 2025 Fox Scholars‼️🙌🏽

19 outstanding students from Hartford Public Schools have been selected for their academic excellence, leadership, strong character, financial need, and spirit of reverence.

Since 1936, the Jacob L. and Lewis Fox Foundation has proudly championed the dreams of Hartford’s youth. Founded by Lewis Fox, a Hartford Public High School alum and dedicated local attorney, the Foundation has awarded over 1,250 scholarships and continues to empower future generations.

Though Lewis Fox passed in 1976, his legacy of investing in future leaders lives on through each and every scholar.

To our 2025 scholars: You inspire us. Keep striving, keep leading, and keep dreaming big!🌟

Jacob L. and Lewis Fox Foundation Scholarship Checklist

🚨 Scholarship DEADLINE: Friday, January 24, 2025

📌 1. Request Teacher Recommendations
Ask TWO teachers to write a Letter of Recommendation and complete the Recommendation Form. (Form available on the application website)

📌 2. Request Adult Recommendations
Ask TWO non-relatives (NOT teachers or students) to provide a Letter of Recommendation and complete the Recommendation Form. Follow the same submission process and deadline as teacher recommendations.

📌 3. Submit Your Transcript
Request your School Counselor to email your transcript using the Transcript Request Form or email the transcript yourself if you have access.

📌 4. Complete the Online Application
Fill out all sections carefully, sign, and submit once complete.

📌 5. Save Copies
IMPORTANT! Keep backups of all submitted documents!

📌 6. Get Help if Needed

Who we are

The Jacob L. and Lewis Fox Foundation was established in 1936 by Lewis Fox, a graduate of Hartford Public High School and a local attorney, as a memorial to his father, Jacob L. Fox. The Foundation has awarded college scholarships to graduating seniors of Bulkeley, Hartford Public, and Weaver high schools annually since 1937, and expanded scholarships to include students from Hartford host magnet schools in 2009.

To date, over 1,000 students have received financial aid from the Foundation. Although Lewis Fox, a prominent member of the Hartford Board of Education for 37 years, died in 1976, the legacy of his devotion to the youth of Hartford continues to support their educational efforts.
