UNSGlikeme Peace talks that include women are more likely to succeed - add your voice to the campaign to increase women's participation in international diplomacy.

Despite women being disproportionately affected by conflict and war, they remain almost entirely locked out of peace processes. Less than one in ten negotiators at peace tables are women. This is despite the fact that processes that include women are in fact more likely to lead to lasting peace. The United Nations and its member states have agreed resolutions to increase the participation of women

in peace talks, but these remain just aspirations if the words have not been translated into action. It is time for the rhetoric to become reality, and for women to have greater involvement at all levels of international diplomacy. This should start at the very top. The UN was established over 70 years ago and has been led by eight different people. These leaders have come from nearly every corner of the globe - but every one has been a man. Later this year the members of the UN will elect a new leader - it is time that women and girls across the world were able to say that there has been a UN Secretary-General like me.
