Calling all Best Buddies high school and 18-22 parents!

Best Buddies Information Meeting
Tuesday, September 29
6:15 PM
Hopkinton High School Auditorium

In Best Buddies, a Buddy is a student with an intellectual or developmental disability who participates in the friendship program. All parents in the program are invited, but Buddy families are especially encouraged to attend. The meeting is a great opportunity to gain a stronger understanding of what Best Buddies looks like, how the matching process works, what students can expect throughout the year, and how families can help make the experience successful and meaningful. Parents do not need to RSVP, and Buddies can join as well!

We hope to see you there to kick off a year of fun, friendship, and inclusion!

The kids are heading back to school… which means it’s time to celebrate making it through another summer. 😂🙌

Join SEPAC for a Back to School Breakfast for Parents! Come grab some coffee, breakfast, meet other parents, ask questions, connect with SEPAC — or just enjoy a meal that you don’t have to cut into tiny pieces for anyone. 😉

TONIGHT — SEPAC's Annual Inspire Awards Celebration
This is your reminder to join us this evening for one of our favorite nights of the year — and this year, we've leveled up. We're hosting at the Center for the Arts, and it is going to be great!
We will be honoring incredible special education teachers with our Inspire Awards, celebrating 11 graduating seniors receiving Navigator Scholarships, and holding board elections for the year ahead.
If you are a parent, caregiver, educator, or ally to a child with special needs — this evening is for you. Come as you are. Bring your people.

Today is the day to put your name in for the SEPAC board. Applications close at 5pm.
Four seats are open. One person has stepped forward.
I'm especially thinking of the parents of older kids — the ones who've been through it. The IEP battles. The years of figuring it out the hard way. You've earned a breath, and I get that.
But I want to ask: what would it have meant to have someone who already knew the way when YOU were just starting out?
Your experience doesn't have to end with your child. It can become a lifeline for the family that's right where you were a few years ago. That's how our hard stuff becomes something. That's how we heal — by showing up for the families coming behind us.
You don't have to be perfect. You just have to care. And you wouldn't be doing it alone.

SEPAC Executive Board elections are ONE week away!

Serving on the board is an opportunity to:
• help strengthen family support and connection
• collaborate with district leadership
• support inclusive practices and student belonging
• help shape future initiatives and priorities

We welcome community members with different experiences, perspectives, and strengths.

You do not need to have all the answers to get involved — just a willingness to listen, learn, and help support students and families.

Project SHARK is BACK — and bigger than ever!

Project SHARK is our SEPAC's initiative to enhance special education classrooms with meaningful extras that go beyond the basics. Teachers already have what they need to teach — but YOUR donations bring added joy, engagement, and hands-on learning to our students' days.

This year we are thrilled to announce TWO exciting new additions:

ESY Summer Program Lists
For the first time, we are extending Project SHARK to support our Extended School Year students — kids with special needs who continue school through the summer. These students and their teachers deserve the same appreciation and support!

Assistive Technology Lending Library
Our special education team is building an AT Lending Library to support communication, play, and independence for students across the district. In an amazing cross-district partnership, HHS STEM teacher Doug Scott and his students will be adapting donated toys into switch-access tools for our youngest learners. How cool is that?!

• all the answers
• years of experience
• professional expertise
• unlimited free time

What matters most is:
• compassion
• curiosity
• collaboration
• willingness to support students and families
• lived experience and perspective matter.
