Point Breeze Plein Air Exhibition

The artists of Garden State Watercolor Society painted in three unique plein air sessions on the historic grounds of Point Breeze, Bordentown, over the last year or so. The resulting exhibit is entitled "Art Without Walls: The Plein Air Experience at Point Breeze." On display from June 27 through December 31, 2026, it can be seen during the Discovery Center’s museum hours. Open Saturdays–Sundays from 12 to 4pm, at 101 Park Avenue, Bordentown. Parking is available on site. Come visit the exhibit!

Through changing light and open skies, the atmosphere, energy and inspiration of the land and historic Gardener’s House emerge in their paintings, inviting visitors to explore these scenes on the grounds. The Gardener’s House was renamed D&R Greenway’s Discovery Center at Point Breeze for its 2023 opening. It is the only structure to remain from the Bonaparte era, and was beautifully restored.

Before the renovations on the 200-year-old building were completed, Garden State Watercolor Society artists donated 20 watercolor paintings representing the herbs, vegetables and flowers of heirloom varieties grown in Joseph Bonaparte's historic garden. The paintings are on permanent display in a lighted cabinet on the first floor near the entrance.

Garden State Watercolor Society closes its 8th Annual Small But Mighty Exhibition today, July 19, at the historic Farmstead Arts Center, 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The public is invited to attend from 2-4pm. Don’t miss this popular exhibit with affordable art to add to your collection. And the sun is out! It's a beautiful drive. Parking is available on site, but is limited, so bring a friend and enjoy the charming scenery.

The Dutch colonial farmhouse, circa 1760s, is nestled beside the Passaic River on 4.4 acres of land on the historic Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead.

GSWS artists submitted approximately 100 watercolor works to the exhibition. $500 in cash and prize awards, juried by Chris Carter, will be announced. Many of the artists will be on-hand to meet guests and answer questions.

ARTISTS: Introduce yourself to an artist you don't know! This is a nice event to mingle. From 4-5pm your art can be removed for sign-out. Another great year of this small works show. Photos of reception to come after the event.

Last week concluded our 56th Open Juried Exhibition for 2026. It was an exquisite exhibition and we hope you had a chance to view it.

Each year, we encourage the public to vote for their favorite painting in the show. There were 136 votes cast, and the winner received 15 votes, the highest for her painting.

Our People's Choice Award Winner is Lisa Grob, for her amazing painting (below): "Fog Bound"!

She received a Blick Gift Card. Congratulations to Lisa Grob!
