Celebrate the life and work of Robert "Bob" Sakson, a beloved Emeritus member of the Garden State Watercolor Society and a prestigious AWS Dolphin Fellow. Known for his gifted plein air style, Bob spent his life capturing the beauty of central New Jersey’s landscapes. Own a piece of this legacy through the 36 original watercolor paintings offered for sale, which were generously donated by Carla Sakson to honor Bob’s memory by funding GSWS Artist Awards. These works are 18×20 inches and larger, provided unmatted and unframed.

Thirty-five percent of the purchase price is a tax deductable donation to the D&R Greenway to support their mission of preservation and care for the land and inspire a conservation ethic.

The GSWS Juried Exhibition at D&R Greenway Land Trust ended today. Congratulations to Elizabeth Oberman for receiving the People’s Choice award for her painting “When We Could Fly!”

We are happy to report 5 paintings were sold by artists: Lisa Budd, Myhanh Bosse, Cara Coleman, Anna Simmons and Evelyn Voget.

Our life drawing session today was well received, with a limit of 20 artists using varied media (watercolors, ebony pencil, charcoal, pastels, etc.) to portray the model’s 5, 10, 20 and 40-minute timed poses. An excellent selection of classic poses were set to good music. It’s always good practice for portraying a figure’s likeness, proportions, light and shadow, foreshortening and perspective. Well done.

REMINDER: Sunday, 1/4/26 10am-12noon is the Pickup date/time for artwork in the Fifty-Fifth Open Juried Exhibition and Installation currently at D&R Greenway Land Trust.

Afterward, we have a Life Drawing event for those registered. (Limited seating.)

Also a new solo exhibit of 36 donated works will be set up, "In Honor of Robert "Bob" Sakson." Bob was a beloved Emeritus member of the Garden State Watercolor Society, and prestigious Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercoor Society. Known for his plein air paintings, Bob spent his life capturing the beauty of Central New Jersey’s landscapes. Out thanks to Carla Sakson for the donation of his works.
