Introducing: a journal with no beginning and no end.
Cycles of Gaia launches Kickstarter for a 52-card journal designed to be kept for years, layering a writer’s seasonal observations against 3 decades of data tracking the average leafing, flowering, and fruiting schedules of 20 native tree and shrub species.
Unlike conventional planners, the journal cycles back around each year, allowing a writer to add new observations alongside the entries they made the year before — and the year before that.
“Most journals ask you to start over every January. This one asks you to come back,” said Erik Assadourian, founder and director of Cycles of Gaia. “When you write in the same week year after year, you stop measuring time the way a calendar measures it and start measuring it the way the land does.”
The journal is printed on 12-point cardstock and housed in a rigid, recycled chipboard sleeve designed to protect the pages and serve as a writing surface in the field.
