Holsworthy Rotary – Croquet and Cancer Research
On Monday evening, 30th September, Holsworthy Rotary struck out in a new direction, finally managing an evening playing, or attempting to play, croquet, hosted by the Bude Croquet Club. The evening was chilly but dry, and a good time was had by all, followed by dinner at the Crooklets Beach Café.
The focus of the evening was to make a donation to the Bude branch of Cancer Research UK, which was President Robert Cole’s nominated charity for last year. Robert presented a cheque for £1,200 to Mary Bromell and Rosemary Hockin from Cancer Research.
Mary thanked the Club for their generosity, and told us that the Bude branch tried to ensure that the funds they raised were used to support research in Devon and Cornwall, keeping things local.
