Foothills Rescue and Rehabilitation 501c3 non profit Wild horses and burros are among the animals that we rescue and rehabilitate, this process takes much time, and patience.

This page is about saving Animals, Horses, Dogs, Cats, Donkeys, Burros and other animals that have suffered neglect, or abuse and need a safe haven where they will be respected, cared for and rehabilitated. Once they have been retrained, fed and made ready for a new home, it is our intent to find a safe home and return the animals to a safe environment. Food and shelter are provided by Foothills Rescue and Rehabilitation, and we seek donations to help in this effort.

Coming in April I’ll be taking training horses in for the spring and summer! I’ve been learning Ray Hunt, Tom Dorrance, and Buck Brannaman horsemanship. I will be continuing to learn and progress under my mentor and other professionals around me along with learning from every horse I work with. I would be more than happy to better educate and take your horse further along! I’ll be training out of RHR Versatility!

In a world where speed, precision, and performance or perfection are often prioritized, it's easy to forget that horses and mules are not machines—they are living, breathing beings with their own thoughts, emotions, and personalities. Every stride they take, every movement they make, is an expression of their unique individuality.

We often push our equine partners to perform, to work, to compete, expecting them to follow commands without understanding that they have feelings just like we do. They experience joy, fear, excitement, frustration, and even sadness. Their responses to training, their willingness to engage, and their ability to trust us are all deeply connected to how we treat them. When we approach them with respect, patience, and empathy, we foster a relationship built on trust and mutual understanding.

Instead of viewing our equines as mere tools to achieve goals, we should see them as partners in this journey. They are collaborators in every ride, drive, every competition, and every moment we share together. Just like any partnership, it’s about balance—recognizing when they need rest, when they need comfort, and when they’re ready to push through challenges.

And when they grow old or become injured, it’s even more vital that we care for them with the same love and commitment as when they were in their prime. They may no longer be able to race or jump as high, but they still deserve our respect, gentleness, and support. Their injuries or aging bodies require more attention, not less. They’ve given us so much, and it’s our responsibility to give back—to ensure their comfort, health, and dignity as they continue to age gracefully by our side.

So next time you’re in the saddle or working with an equine, remember: they are not machines. They are partners who deserve to be treated with the care, respect, and attention they so rightfully deserve—through every stage of their lives. Together, we can achieve greatness—not because of them, but with them.
