Ready for Rescue saves cats and dogs from the New York City's streets and kill shelters and places them in forever homes. We are a 501 3 C non-profit

Ready for Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit committed to saving cats and dogs from the streets and shelters of New York City. We have a special commitment to the underdogs (and undercats) that end up in local kill shelters. We routinely save sick, injured and senior animals, who in many cases are last ones left on the shelter's euthanasia list. We also have a particular fondness for Pit Bulls, a gross

ly misunderstood breed of dog that are the dogs most likely to not make it out of the shelter. We provide our animals with the finest medical care, place them in foster homes and search for the best forever home for each cat and dog. Each year we rescue over 100 wonderful cats and dogs. Ready for Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization and every dollar goes to the care and well-being of our animals.If you have any questions please contact us! OUR FIRST RESCUES OF 2026.
Ready For Rescue saved little Sugar from the streets of Brooklyn. She had a mammary mass, and when we took her to the vet, we found out she was pregnant. Well, yesterday, 1/1/26, Sugar gave birth to 4 pups (we’re calling them Sugarcubes). It’s a joyous occasion, but these little ones will be expensive! CHASE NEEDS A HOLIDAY MIRACLE
Ready For Rescue is trying to save Chase, a 1.5 year old sweetheart of a dog from the NYC shelter. He was given up by his human because she was moving. He now has kennel cough and that puts him at risk. Chase is playful, wiggly and friendly and has lived with other dogs. Please help Chase spend the holidays in a warm bed and not a kennel. PLEASE HELP KEEP KANGA OUT OF THE NYC SHELTER WHERE SHE WILL LIKELY BE PUT DOWN QUICKLY.
Ready For Rescue is trying to help Kanga, a 2-year-old sweetheart of a dog. This is really a tragic story. We initially say Kanga on the NYC shelter's list to be put down. The shelter environment crushed her and she became reactive and then would not list. On the day she was scheduled to die, her family reclaimed her (see the heartwarming reunion video). But only several weeks later they made an appointment to surrender her again because they are moving. We know that she will decline rapidly at the shelter and be euthanized. Kanga is tolerant of other dogs but will guard food if a another dog approaches and prefers calmer, older dogs. If you can help, please email us at [email protected]. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE NO ONE HAS STEPPED UP FOR SUGAR?
Ready For Rescue got a call about this little dog now named Sugar wandering the streets of Canarsie, Brooklyn. She is SUPER SWEET The police will take her to the shelter if we don’t find a foster. Please email us at [email protected]

ADOPT KITTENS BASIL AND ROSEMARY
Ready For Rescue saved these adorable kittens and their mom (Sage) from the streets of Brooklyn. Rosemary (white chest) and Basil are just awesome. They are 4 months old and all kitten. Playful, curious, cute as hell and friendly. You just ezng to eat them right up! If you are looking for an amazing pair of bonded cats, you’ve found them.
