Ready for Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit committed to saving cats and dogs from the streets and shelters of New York City. We have a special commitment to the underdogs (and undercats) that end up in local kill shelters. We routinely save sick, injured and senior animals, who in many cases are last ones left on the shelter's euthanasia list. We also have a particular fondness for Pit Bulls, a gross

ly misunderstood breed of dog that are the dogs most likely to not make it out of the shelter. We provide our animals with the finest medical care, place them in foster homes and search for the best forever home for each cat and dog. Each year we rescue over 100 wonderful cats and dogs. Ready for Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization and every dollar goes to the care and well-being of our animals.If you have any questions please contact us! FOSTER OR ADOPT FLASH!
Ready For Rescue saved Flash from the NYC shelter a few months ago but the poor guy has yet to land a home. He's current in the Hudson Valley in a board and train but he really wants a couch where he can snuggle with you. Flash is a pocket Pittie (36 lbs) and is super playful. But he does struggle with anxiety which can cause him to be reactive to other dogs. *NYC AREA* We are resending this plea. We have been notified by the clinic that these two are getting depressed being caged. They are bonded, but can’t be boarded together because the clinic does not have a large enough kennel. This is urgent. We don’t want these two babies getting sick. It’s bad enough their family and go ed them. Bacardi & Nacho are friendly 5 year old bonded housemates who just lost their home. They are currently being boarded at one of our vet clinics. Please open your home to them so they can have the freedom to move and be together again. They are super sweet and healthy. And current on vaccines. PM us or email: [email protected]

URGENT - GUS NEEDS A FOSTER ASAP
Ready For Rescue learned that Gus’s foster was in a fatal accident today. We are heartbroken but we need to find Gus a foster - even temp - ASAP. Gus is 7 years old, 70lbs and was neutered Monday. He has meet a few small dogs and he was good with them. He passes all dogs on the street politely. He is currently in NYC but we will get him to wherever he needs to go. DARLA UPDATE!
Darla the little Maltese who is in the hospital due to a liver shunt which caused severe dehydration and lethal levels of ammonia, sodium and glucose is doing great. She will be leaving the hospital and going into foster care. In a month she will have a follow up and hopefully surgery. Look how good she looks! We still need help with her medical bills. PERFECT LITTLE DEE DEE IS LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME
DeeDee is a petite gentle Queen who is always looking for a warm lap to make biscuits and sleep in. Although she is 12, she is still quite playful. She is often found hunting for a feather on a string or playing soccer with a paper ball and is transfixed by YouTube cat videos of birds.

Dee would make a great family pet as she is great with kids. She's a highly social kitty and truly purr-fers the company of people. She has not been around other cats in our care, but we think she could do well with a kitty companion as she is so friendly and curious. She is an absolute gem of a kitty and will bring joy to any family lucky enough to adopt her.

DARLA NEEDS A FOSTER
Good news! Darla, saved by Ready for Ready For Rescue is ready for a foster. She came to us virtually lifeless due to a liver shunt. She has spent the last 4 days in critical care but today we got the wonderful news that she can go to a home. Darla is sweet as can be and a tiny little thing at 5 lbs. She’s still got some medical issues related to the shunt (once she is ready she will be getting surgery) but for now she needs a place to recuperate. UPDATE 6/21: Horatio graduated! Our sweet boy graduated from 15 rounds of radiation for his nasal cancer. This procedure is supposed to give him 1-3 years of the life he always deserved. In some cases, it cures the cancer. He did so well during his treatments and bounced back with a good appetite each time. We are so grateful to his amazing foster for taking the time to bring Horatio to all of his sessions.
