Today, 26 May 2026, marks the 75th Founding Anniversary of the UNESCO-Philippine National Commission!

For 75 years, UNACOM has served as the Philippines’ bridge to the ideals and programmes of UNESCO in advancing international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication, and information.

Since its establishment in 1951, UNACOM has worked alongside government agencies, communities, educators, scientists, artists, young people, and advocates.

As we celebrate this milestone, UNACOM reaffirms its commitment to championing shared heritage, international cooperation, and a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.

The Paulinian Volunteers for Community Development — Club for UNESCO participated in the Youth Suffrage Education Caravan (Educators and Youth Rights Forum), organized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in collaboration with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), on May 26, 2026, at SM City Tuguegarao.

The forum gathered representatives from various Local Youth Development Offices, Local Youth Development Councils, Local Government Units, and student leaders across Region II. The event aimed to strengthen democratic engagement, promote responsible voting, deepen human rights awareness, and encourage active civic participation among Filipino youth — values that strongly align with the organization’s mission of community development and youth empowerment.

Through initiatives like this, PVCD continues to uphold its commitment to empowering the Filipino youth to become responsible citizens and active contributors in shaping a better future for their communities and the nation.

The Paulinian Volunteers for Community Development – Clubs for UNESCO successfully organized and facilitated the Futures Thinking Workshop: “Imagining Tomorrow, Creating Today,” which gathered students from different academic departments and organizations, together with faculty and staff members from the Community Development Center.

The activity was made more meaningful through the presence of 𝘿𝙧. 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙧𝙪𝙯, UNESCO Chair for Anticipatory Governance and Regenerative Citieswhose engaging discussion introduced participants to the importance of futures literacy, strategic foresight, and anticipatory leadership in shaping a better tomorrow.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the interactive Dreams and Disruptions game, where students and faculty members were given the opportunity to explore possible futures, respond to unexpected challenges, and reflect on how present actions can influence tomorrow’s realities. The activity inspired participants to dream boldly, think creatively, and plan intentionally for the future they hope to build.

Through collaborative learning and meaningful conversations, the workshop empowered participants to imagine transformative possibilities and strengthened their commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready communities.

In a world where small actions create powerful change, Earth Hour reminds us that collective effort begins with a single switch. As we turn off our lights, we turn on our responsibility—to protect, to act, and to lead.

Community development is not only about building spaces, but also about sustaining the environment that nurtures us all. When communities come together for a shared cause, we create ripples of awareness, unity, and action that extend far beyond one hour.

Because a sustainable future is not built alone—it is shaped by empowered communities working as one.
