81 years ago today, on the morning of the 21st of March 1945, Australian, Flight Leiutenant George Roberts flew TB752 on a bomber es**rt to Horken; records show that 66 Sqn provided 10 Spitfires for this mission.
Roberts was born in Ararat, Victoria on the 29th June 1916. He was educated in Melbourne and became a qualified Radio Engineer in 1936.
He joined the RAF in 1940 and subsequently saw service with 16 (PRU) and 453 Sqns before joining 66 Sqn at RAF Fairwood Common in February 1945.
After the war he returned to Australia and in October 1945 and went into business with his brother, buying a service station. This lasted until 1960 when he founded a business selling radio equipment and by the 1980s he was selling products worldwide.
He visited TB752 at Manston twice.
