Imagining how to achieve a better future is key to realizing it, and science fiction is one of the best mediums to dream big while exploring the opportunities and challenges of modern life.

L.A. County high school students have the opportunity to dream big and explore the many facets of critical environmental and social justice issues by submitting their short sci-fi stories to the Omega Sci-Fi Project's The Tomorrow Prize (general category) and The Green Feather Award (eco-themed category) by *February 13, 2026*.

Specifically, The Green Feather Award, challenges students to dive into solutions to biodiversity loss and climate change.
The top stories will be read on stage by actors at culminating event in May.

Students can learn more and submit their stories at: https://www.lightbringerproject.org/science-fiction-competitions

Our teen sci-fi program -- the Omega Sci-Fi Project -- starts with dozens of free sci-fi writing workshops for hundreds of students provided by our team in high school classrooms across L.A. County every fall and winter!

We are the ONLY such program in L.A. and the results are extraordinary! Students discover they love to not only write, but to imagine BIG for our future.

But arts funding is being cut and we need your help!

Join us on Sunday, November 16 for this amazing evening of sci-fi readings by guest actors, food, drink and more to celebrate 10 years of inspiring teens.

EVEN IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT, CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION!

Did you know that The Roddenberry Foundation funded our Omega Sci-Fi Project teen sci-fi storytelling program for L.A. County high school students for two years, helping our program to make it through the pandemic?

It's because of our shared vision for the incredible importance of sci-fi for inspiring us individually and collectively to dream and pursue a better future.

Thank you to The Roddenberry Foundation for your support!

Science fiction is more than entertainment. It’s a window into our civic imagination. 🌟

From engineering to diplomacy to the arts, Star Trek’s vision for the future has helped generations of dreamers aspire to change the world.

The Roddenberry Foundation is proud to be part of this extraordinary legacy, and to keep working towards a better future with hope as our guiding force.
