Today, UNA-USA is launching its COVID-19 Solidarity Challenge. We’re challenging our members across the country to show their support for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVID-19 response and encouraging them to contribute to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a first-of-its-kind fund launched by the UN Foundation, WHO, and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. Contributions to this fund directly support WHO’s efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic.

Give to support the World Health Organization’s efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic, in countries that need it most.

Hi everyone, my name is Grace McGrath. I am the PR Chair for E-Board.

I admire Madam CJ Walker. Sarah Breedlove–who later would come to be known as Madam C. J. Walker–was born on December 23, 1867, on the same Delta, Louisiana plantation where her parents, Owen and Minerva Anderson Breedlove, had been enslaved before the end of the Civil War. This child of sharecroppers transformed herself from an uneducated farm laborer and laundress into one of the twentieth century’s most successful, self-made women entrepreneurs.

"I am a woman who came from the cotton fields of the South. From there, I was promoted to the washtub. From there, I was promoted to the cook kitchen. And from there I promoted myself into the business of manufacturing hair goods and preparations….I have built my own factory on my own ground.”

There is a Netflix show out about her now. I would check it out.

Hi everyone, my name is Jessica Nyarko. I am the Vice President.

For , I wanted to highlight Shirley Chisolm. She was the first African American woman elected to United States Congress in 1968. She served seven terms in New York's 12th Congressional District from 1969 to 1983. Shirley Chisolm was also the first African American and the first woman to run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 1972, in which she survived three assassination attempts. Her motto and title of her autobiography—Unbossed and Unbought—illustrated her outspoken advocacy for women and minorities during her terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. This women's history month, I am choosing to highlight Shirley Chisolm because of her unwavering strength and determination during her lifetime. She paved the way for a lot of women and African Americans by not only fighting for their rights but proving that they were capable of political careers. Thank You, Shirley Chisolm!

Hi everyone, my name is Blossom Kapio. I am the Secretary for E-Board.

Fela Anikulapo Kuti inspires me. He was a revolutionary, saxophonist, composer, dancer, and human rights activist who was never afraid to make music that called out corruption in his country (Nigeria). He is also the originator of the genre Afrobeats.

We want to thank everyone who came out the Voices of the Civil Rights Movement in the 21st Century featuring Ekow King and Marquise S. Hunt.

It was so great to work with so many awesome organizations. As our speakers stated, we need to keep pushing for change, and that can happen when we all come together as we did. Stay tuned for upcoming events.

Hi everyone, my name is Ashley. I am part of J-Board.

Jane Bolin (1908-2007) inspires me. Not only was she the first black female judge, but throughout her legal career, she supported programs to root out crime among young boys. Everyone needs someone to believe in them, and she believed in young black men in time some few people did.

"Those gains we have made were never graciously and generously granted. We have had to fight every inch of the way."
