Today Charlotte City Ballet Company has taken it’s final bow.
After nearly 40 years of enriching the greater Charlotte community, Charlotte City Ballet will close its curtains for the final time at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Providing pre-professional performance training to its dancers and sharing classic and contemporary works though public performances and outreach programs has been the non-profit company's focus since being founded by Claudia Folts and Beverly Barwick in 1985.
Charlotte City Ballet has performed with the Charlotte Philharmonic Orchestra, Carolina Voices, BalletFest Atlanta and Charrlotte CIvic Orchestra. For many years the company has participated in the Festival of North Carolina Dance and while a member of the South Eastern Regional Ballet Association enjoyed honor company status.
