Liberty Fire Department - Second Life

Liberty Fire Dept is an ONLINE virtual Fire Department for Second Life. Liberty Fire Department is a Fire Department on Second Life.

We have our main station in Che Che, off Route 8C in Satori. We also have a hangar and dock at Angels Airport & Marina in Quietly Tuesday & Diafall

We do provide mutual aid for other Second Life Fire Departments as need be.

While Liberty Fire Department is only a "virtual" Fire Department in Second Life, and we will NEVER claim to be an ACTUAL Fire Department, we without question have the utmost respect for those who do this in the real world.

It's by no means an easy job nor a "safe" one, though they damn sure try their best to make it as safe as possible.

The men & women of the fire service put their lives on the line to save the lives of others day after day, sometimes at the cost of their own.

This year, Second Life turns 23 and the theme for their birthday this year is "The Golden Age of Hollywood." I elected to display some posters and created some plaques to display above them.

One such movie is "The Red Skies of Montana," which is loosely based on the 1949 Mann Gulch Fire.

A team of 15 Smokejumpers jumped that fire teaming up with a firefighter who was already on the ground. Of those sixteen, only three survived.

I couldn't do a plaque about the movie and not pay tribute to these brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice...
