On July 16th the world suffered a terrible loss when our good friend Jure Breceljnik died suddenly from unexpected heart failure at only 41years of age. He died while filming his new documentary "Icehunters" in Brussels. Jure left behind Natalija Gros and their young daughter Ela Breceljnik, only six months old. Jure had a big vision for his company FilmIt and fought hard for his dreams and succes
s. While he worked vigorously towards his accomplishments he was on a low income and was not insured. Now Naty stands alone with a 6-month-old child, and in addition to her immense grief she is now experiencing debilitating financial problems. She is working hard on finishing FilmIt‘s projects and tying up Jure‘s loose ends while taking care of their baby daughter by herself, so her time and energy for additional work is extremely limited. Meanwhile, house payments, heating bills and costs of basic amenities are piling up with no solution in sight. And that‘s where we come in! We‘re going on an expedition to help Naty and Ela through this tough and painful time in their lives, climbing mountains to raise enough money for them to get back on their feet. We, Sigurdur Bjarni Sveinsson (Siggi), Arnar Gauti Markússon, Stefnir Gíslason and Arnar Páll Gíslason, will travel from Iceland to Slovenia in order to climb six peaks through the shortest route in between the Kamniške Savinjske Alpe. Keeping in mind that some sections might be grade 3, but most of the route is grade 1-2 in Alpine scale. The peaks we choose are the highest on the Ridge of the Kamniške Savinjske Alpe. We will bring Jure Breceljnik‘s memory with us to every peak we reach, one peak for each of the six films he made. Movie making and his girls, Ela and Naty, was what he lived for. We want to honour his memory with the climb and we would deeply appreciate you helping us help his family. Thank you!
