🌿 Quarterly Embankment Protection Group (EPG) Meetings Successfully Held 🌿
From 27 August to 02 September 2026, under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) Project, five quarterly Embankment Protection Group (EPG) meetings were successfully conducted in Paddapukur, Shyamnagar, Satkhira.
During the meetings, EPG members reviewed the current condition of local embankments, discussed existing risks and challenges, and identified community-led measures to strengthen embankment protection. Members also reflected on their roles and responsibilities in maintaining embankments and enhancing disaster preparedness to reduce the impacts of climate-related hazards.
These quarterly meetings provide an important platform for community members to share experiences, monitor progress, and strengthen collective action towards building resilient coastal communities.

Feminist Talk
✨ On 29 August 2026, a Feminist Talk is organized in Dhaka under the project "Gender and Transformative Resilience Through Feminist Education."
The event brought together young feminists, activists, and development practitioners for meaningful discussions on gender equality, feminist leadership, social justice, and transformative resilience through feminist education.

Empowering Women for Safer, Climate-Resilient Communities

On 25 July 2026, under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) Project, 40 women Embankment Protection Group (EPG) members from Gabura and Padmapukur Unions of Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira received sheep, life jackets, gumboots, and bags through a distribution programme.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to support the sustainable livelihoods of 300 women EPG members while enhancing their safety and preparedness during natural disasters. By strengthening women's economic resilience and equipping them with essential safety gear, the project contributes to improved disaster risk management and climate change adaptation in vulnerable coastal communities.
Together, we are building stronger, safer, and more resilient communities where women lead the way in climate action and disaster preparedness.

Activity: Orientation for Implementing Partners on Resource Mobilization and Mainstreaming Climate Change

BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan participated in the Orientation for Implementing Partners on Resource Mobilization and Mainstreaming Climate Change on 22 July 2026 under the Strengthening the Coping Capacity of Vulnerable People Facing Challenges from the Adverse Effects of Climate Change (SCOPE) project.

The orientation was held at Tiger Plus, Satkhira, and aimed to strengthen the capacity of implementing partners on resource mobilization strategies and integrating climate change into their programs and initiatives.

🌱 Empowering Women to Lead Climate Action Through Feminist Education
From 14–16 July 2026, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan successfully organized a three-day training on Gender and Feminism in Climate Change under the Gender and Transformative Resilience Through Feminist Education project.
The training brought together participants to strengthen their understanding of how climate change affects women and marginalized communities differently, while exploring feminist approaches to building resilience, promoting gender equality, and advancing climate justice.

On 30 June 2026, the sheep distribution programme was officially inaugurated in the morning at the Ashashuni Upazila Parishad premises in Satkhira by the Chief Guest, Mr. Shyamananda Kundu, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).
Under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) Project, the sheep distribution programme for 300 women Embankment Protection Group (EPG) members has been inaugurated to support their livelihood development, with the aim of strengthening disaster risk management and enhancing climate adaptation capacity.
The Special Guests included Dr. Abdus Salam, Veterinary Surgeon and Upazila Livestock Officer; Saidul Islam, Women Affairs Officer; Amirul Islam, Project Implementation Officer; Palash Kanti Roy, Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer; along with local government representatives and distinguished guests.
These locally bred sheep will be distributed in phases among all 300 EPG members under the project.

💧 Empowering Women Through Safe Water Access 💙

Under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) Project, a public awareness Pot Song campaign was organized on 21 June 2026 as part of the activity “Launch 6 Public Campaigns:Embankments Save Lives – Women Lead the Change.” The event took place in the afternoon at the Jhapa Bastati Puja Mandap premises in Padmapukur Union, Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira District.
The Pot Song highlighted the importance of embankment protection in coastal areas, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and the leadership and participation of women in disaster management. The event attracted the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of people from all walks of life, including local representatives, women, men, youth, teachers, and students.
Through its engaging performances and awareness-focused messages, the Pot Song campaign played an important role in increasing public awareness about embankment protection, disaster preparedness, and gender equality.

🌿 Capacity Building Training on Business Planning and Savings Management 🌿
On 14 June 2026, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, with financial support from the Gates Foundation, successfully organized a day-long training on Business Planning and Savings Management at the Officers’ Club in Kaliganj Upazila.
A total of 30 women farmers from 25 women farmer groups participated in the training. Resource persons from the Department of Cooperatives and the Department of Youth Development facilitated interactive sessions on business planning, loan management, and savings management.
The training strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills in financial management, enterprise development, and sustainable savings practices, empowering women farmers to enhance their livelihoods and economic resilience.
The CARE for Women Project is jointly implemented by AVAS, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, Street Child, and Coast Foundation, funded by the Gates Foundation.
