🌿 First Land Lease Gathering of 2026 at Naretunoi Conservancy 🌿

Today, Naretunoi Conservancy successfully held its first land lease program gathering of 2026, bringing together key stakeholders committed to community-led conservation.

We were honored to host partners from MAS Intimates, the Giraffe Centre, and The Wildlife Foundation (TWF) as we engaged landowners and community leaders on strengthening livelihoods while securing vital wildlife habitats within the Athi–Kapiti ecosystem.

This milestone marks a strong start to the year, reinforcing our shared vision where people, wildlife, and nature coexist in harmony. We appreciate the continued support and collaboration that make conservation possible on the ground.

✨ Where Heritage Met Adventure ✨

On 31st December, we shared an unforgettable cultural experience at the Wildlife Foundation Centre as guests stepped into the heartbeat of Maasai life.

The day began with a safari game drive in the conservancy, followed by a meaningful visit to a traditional Maasai boma. Guests were warmly welcomed with traditional dances and introductions, enjoyed Maasai tea, and took part in traditional cooking sessions.

Hands-on moments during the beading and weaving workshop, shared meals, and vibrant songs and dances created powerful connections between culture, community, and conservation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to explore, dance, craft, and connect while celebrating one of Kenya’s most iconic cultures. 🌍🦓

🌱 Community in Action | Learning Through Service 🌱

St Mary’s School demonstrated the true spirit of service and environmental stewardship through impactful community work across our local schools and homes.

At Emakoko Primary School, the students constructed a bathroom slab for the girls’ washroom, supporting dignity and better sanitation. They also planted trees to promote a greener future and installed lion lights at two homes within Naretunoi Conservancy, strengthening human–wildlife coexistence. To nurture creativity and cultural appreciation, the students engaged in beadwork activities, showcasing skill, patience, and artistic expression.

Their journey continued to Enkutoto Primary School, where they planted more trees and installed a water tank to support rainwater harvesting and improve access to water for the school community.

This inspiring initiative highlights how young people can create meaningful change—supporting education, conservation, creativity, and coexistence. 🌍✨

Despite the biting drought, today’s Game Count was a powerful reminder of our commitment to conservation.
Against all odds, teams from across the Kitengela Conservation Area came together at sunrise—armed with notebooks, binoculars, and unmatched passion—to monitor wildlife populations and understand how the ongoing dry spell is impacting animals and habitats.

From plains game to raptors overhead, every sighting told an important story about resilience, movement patterns, and the urgent need to safeguard our ecosystems during this challenging season.

A big thank you to everyone who showed up, volunteered, and supported this vital citizen-science exercise. Your dedication ensures we keep protecting wildlife, even in the toughest times.

Together, we count. Together, we conserve.

Today at The Wildlife Foundation (TWF) Centre, we had the privilege of hosting key stakeholders in avian conservation for a productive and insightful meeting.

In attendance were representatives from TWF, Nature Kenya, The Peregrine Fund, Earth Acre, AKWCA, and Olerai Conservancy.

Together, we explored opportunities for strengthening bird conservation, shared the challenges faced across the Athi-Kapiti landscape, and collectively mapped out practical pathways to secure the future of our bird species and their habitats.

This collaboration marks an important step toward enhancing monitoring, community engagement, habitat protection, and coordinated conservation action.

Thank you to all partners for your commitment to safeguarding our avian heritage. Together, we are building a stronger and more connected conservation network.

🦒🦓 Game Count Day at the Nairobi national park dispersal area 🌿

What an amazing day out in the wild! Today, we joined hands to count some of our favorite residents — giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, and ostriches — as part of our regular wildlife monitoring. 🐾

Each count helps us understand how our wildlife is doing and how best to protect their beautiful home here in the Athi-Kapiti ecosystem. 💚

Big thanks to everyone who showed up, shared their passion, and helped make today a success! 🙌
