Local Water Alliance Citizens opposing commercial water exports and the proposed Nestlé project in Hood River County. Prot

Some members of the Cascade Locks City Council, The Port Of Cascade Locks, The ODFW and others want to allow the Swiss company Nestle to bottle water that seeps from the foothills of Mount Hood and sell it nationwide for a profit. Few things are as proprietary to Oregonians as the state's rugged mountains and pristine water sources. The deal would be a com-modification by Nestle of a publicly owne

d natural resource that comes at a time of drought and diminishing public water supplies. Also, recently, the company has come under intense scrutiny in California for failing to curb its water use despite a severe drought that has residents throughout the state scaling back. If you research, you will find a path that Nestle has taken that proves they are not good stewards of the environment. Cascade Locks is situated in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
