Jamestown Municipal Band

Jamestown Municipal Band The Jamestown Municipal Band is a concert band located in Jamestown, New York. The Jamestown Municipal Band is the "Official Band" for the City of Jamestown.

We are a community concert band in the greater Jamestown area, consisting of over 50 professional and amateur musicians from throughout Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The band gives weekly concerts throughout the summer at the Goranson Band Shell on Wednesday Nights in Jamestown's Allen Park at 7pm. The new streetlights are up next to the stairs into the ampitheatre by the Allen Park Bandshell, just in time for the 2026 Jamestown Municipal Band season starting on June 24. There will be a a photoelectric switch that will turn them on and off with darkness for park security, and an over-ride switch to turn them off if desired when the band is playing, so as not to distract the musicians. Many thanks the city for these much-needed improvements in the park.

Grey skies with drizzle turned to blue as over a dozen JMB players rode a float in the Memorial Day parade from Fourth Street to the cemetery, where they joined another larger group of JMB players for the solemn ceremonies. Memorial Day reminders:
If you are riding in the parade-Be at the Doubletree Hotel on 4th st at 9:30 to load. We have a full number of players and no extra room! Bring a stand or a lyre. Chairs are provided.

If you are meeting us at Lakeview Cemetery/Soldier's Circle, please meet at 10:30. Bring a stand. We are scheduled to start playing 10:45 ish. In the ceremony we will perform the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America, as well as National Emblem as we can fit it in.

Blue Band shirts, dark pants, dark shoes. Bring a jacket if you wish. A hat also is fine. Nothing with a political statement please.

They day will be a bit cool and partly cloudy with a low chance of rain. Thank you for your participation and see you there!

Bandshell steps update: Today, workers finished installing handrails on the new steps leading down into the Allen Park Band Shell bowl. Although they couldn't confirm lighting being installed, electrical boxes next to the steps seem to confirm the rumors of better night lighting. This should make for a safer viewing experience for JMB's audience.

The city has almost completed the new concrete pedestrian walkway down into the Allen Park bowl . This was carefully designed to facilitate rapid delivery of intermission fudge provided by the Allen Park Women's Club to Shaun Laska, Jamestown Municipal Band's announcer for summer concerts. JMB thanks the city for their attention in replacing the aging and tricky stone slab walkway for the safety of our audience.
