Today is National Foster Care Day, and May is National Foster Care Month!

Every 2 minutes, a child enters the foster care system in the United States.

That moment, filled with fear and uncertainty, is the beginning of a brand new chapter.

At Isaiah 117 House, we believe that this time in their story matters. Instead of waiting in an office, our children walk through red doors into a place of safety and dignity.

In honor of National Foster Care Month, we invite you to join us in changing the way foster care begins by…
✅ Becoming a foster parent
✅ Volunteering at one of our homes
✅ Donating financially or from our wishlists
✅ Spreading the word about our mission
✅ Praying for the children, families, and child welfare workers

A story from an open home…
A sibling group of 4 was at the hospital for several hours. A few exhausted caseworkers and 3 of the kiddos made their way to the Isaiah House at 3:30am. We were advised the oldest child who has autism had displayed some troubling behaviors at the hospital, hitting, throwing things, and cursing. The weary group was not only exhausted but also very hungry. Isaiah 117 House staff quickly got to work whipping up pancakes. The one-year-old slept peacefully, and the two older children happily played nearby. Stacks of pancakes were gobbled up by all and soon thereafter the two older children were fast asleep in comfy beds with new pajamas. One of the Caseworkers remarked that the oldest child was like a different kid at the house. It's amazing what a difference an intentionally designed space, filled with love, and care does to help children on a very hard day.

Imagine being a child removed from everything familiar.

Now imagine the first stop being a home filled with kindness, comfort, and care.

That’s the heart behind Isaiah 117 House Piney Woods.

Our home will give caseworkers a safe, welcoming place to bring children during the first critical hours after removal. Instead of juggling both childcare and case responsibilities, they can trust that the child is safe and loved while they do their work.

Together we are changing the experience for children and strengthening the support system for caseworkers.

Because no caseworker should have to do this work alone.

And no child should face that moment without comfort.

This Thankful Thursday, our hearts are full of gratitude.

A huge THANK YOU to the women’s group at Union Hill Baptist Church for pouring love into our community in such a beautiful way. The potted plants and homemade cookies you prepared for our local caseworkers were more than just gifts—they were reminders that they are seen, appreciated, and not alone in the important work they do every day.

Your kindness is making a difference in the lives of those who serve children and families in hard places. Because of you, encouragement is growing and hope is being shared—one plant and one cookie at a time 🌱🍪

We are so thankful for partners like you who help us love well and serve faithfully.

A story from an open home…

Birthdays are meant to be special. A day to feel celebrated, loved, and seen. But what if your birthday fell on one of the hardest days of your life? What if you had never had a birthday celebration before?

A sweet little girl came into the house with her siblings, and we overheard quiet whispers that it might be her birthday. We asked around about what she might like, and one thing quickly came up… Converse shoes.

While she played outside with volunteers and caseworkers, we snuck away to make a little magic happen. Food was gathered, a cake was made in no time, shoes were bought, and presents were placed on the table. Her brother helped distract her just long enough for us to get everything ready.

When she walked inside and saw it all, she just stood there in awe. Then she said something we’ll never forget she had never had a birthday party before.

There was cake, laughter, and so many smiles filling the room that night. And when she laid her head on her pillow, she knew something every child deserves to feel: that she was loved, protected, and safe.

Moments like these remind us why this place matters so much.

Truly, love you are not alone. ❤️

Every day, caseworkers walk into difficult situations to protect children. They carry heavy decisions, long hours, and heartbreaking stories — all because they believe children deserve safety and care.

At Isaiah 117 House, our mission is simple: stand beside them.

When a child is removed from their home, caseworkers no longer have to search for a safe place for the child to wait. Instead, they can bring them to a warm, welcoming home filled with:

• Clean clothes
• Cozy beds
• Toys and books
• A warm meal
• Loving volunteers

While the child is cared for, caseworkers can focus on their important work — paperwork, court coordination, and finding the best placement for that child.

We are honored to serve the ones who serve our most vulnerable.

Because when we support caseworkers, we help children.

💙 Lavish Love Friday 💙

Today we are overflowing with gratitude for our amazing partners at 4 Kids 4 Families.

Because of you, children in our Piney Woods communities are met with comfort instead of chaos, with dignity instead of uncertainty, and with love in the moments they need it most. Your “yes” to serving vulnerable children and families is making an eternal impact—one child, one family, one story at a time.

At Isaiah 117 House Piney Woods, we are so thankful to stand beside you in this mission. Together, we are creating a place where children can exhale, feel safe, and know they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Your compassion reflects the heart of Jesus so beautifully. Thank you for bring hope into hard places.

A story from an open home ❤️

She was four years old and nonverbal.

She walked cautiously into the office on her tiptoes, clutching two stuffed animals tight in her hands. Her eyes were wide with wonder as she looked up at the ceiling fan, squinting as it spun above her.

We offered toys. Snacks. Gentle smiles. She’d take a few steps away, but every time, she found her way back to that fan, completely mesmerized.

After a few moments, she stepped out of the office. And with each step, you could almost see the walls beginning to come down.

We turned on Peppa Pig. Gathered every baby doll and stuffed animal we could find. Slowly, the space around her started to feel safe.

Then we noticed something. She would repeat words.

“Baby.”
“Baby.”

“Cow.”
She smiled. “Moo.”

A little while later, we heard her playing. We paused and listened.

“Is she… singing Jingle Bells?”

She was.

And in that moment, we knew she felt safe.

This is what this house is all about.
A place where fear gives way to comfort.
Where guarded hearts begin to open.
Where children can simply be children again…even if just for a moment.

And sometimes, that moment sounds like a quiet little voice singing a familiar song.

Caseworkers carry an enormous responsibility. On some of the hardest days in a child’s life, they are the ones stepping in to bring safety and protection.

That’s where Isaiah 117 House Piney Woods can help.

Instead of sitting in a busy office or waiting for hours in unfamiliar places, children can come to a peaceful home designed just for them.

While the child rests, plays, and receives comfort from trained volunteers, caseworkers are able to focus on the critical next steps for the child’s future.

We can’t remove the weight of their calling —
but we can help carry it.

Today we say thank you to every caseworker serving children and families in our communities. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are here for you.
