Changing how we respond to our child’s anxiety isn’t a one‑time shift. It’s a practice. It takes repetition, patience, and a lot of self‑compassion. Every time we pause, soften our tone, or choose connection before correction, we’re building a new pattern. Small changes add up, and they matter.

If it feels right to share, how has this practice been unfolding for you lately? If not, just let this be a reminder that we’re all learning together. And if you’re curious to explore this more, we’ve shared a few recent posts about supporting kids through anxiety.

Saw this on our school’s sign today and it reminded me of what we talk about so often in our GPS community: growth doesn’t always look the same or happen on our timeline.

It’s the often-frustrating root‑growing seasons that make the blooms possible. I’ve felt this in my own life and as a parent. Let's keep showing up in our lives and for our kids together.

Sometimes we bloom. Sometimes we grow roots. BOTH matter.

Taking a moment to recap more from our most recent blog post by GPS coach Jo Whitton. If you have a child who struggles with anxiety, or if you feel anxiety rise in yourself (which is so many of us these days), don’t stop at these clips. The full article offers such a gentle and compassionate roadmap.

If you’ve already read it, we’d love to hear what resonated with you or what your biggest takeaway was.

And if your child often shows anger, it can be helpful to remember that underneath anger there is often anxiety. Jo speaks to this with so much care in the full post.

We all want to raise confident, resilient kids but some of our well‑intended habits can quietly fuel anxiety.

In our newest blog post, parent coach Jo Whitton walks through a real example from a coaching client, Anna, a mum of three. She offers clear, compassionate guidance, starting with this powerful reminder:

When we treat our child’s raised alarm as a BIG deal, their brain receives the message that something is wrong — which can increase anxious thoughts, avoidance, and stress.

This post is full of insight and practical wisdom. It’s one you’ll want to revisit, especially as so many of us are navigating our own anxiety alongside our children’s.

🌱 At GPS, we believe that when caregivers make shifts in their inner world of thoughts, the whole family feels the ripple, and that these shifts are even more powerful when they happen in community.

Small shifts create big change especially in how we show up as parents. When we pause, question a stressful thought, or soften our inner dialogue, something real begins to move.

One of the most powerful tools we teach in our community is The Work, a simple yet profound process of inquiry that helps parents explore their thoughts with curiosity rather than judgment. It’s a way to notice what’s happening inside, create space, and choose how we want to respond.

We have a few openings left in our upcoming course, The Parenting Shift: Using The Work of Byron Katie to Transform Your Parenting, designed specifically for parents who want more ease, connection, and groundedness in daily life.

Small shifts in mindset create big shifts in parenting. I wouldn’t have truly believed that when I joined my first GPS program. I was looking to know the exact words to use when my child spiraled into a tantrum. I thought there had to be a “right” in‑the‑moment response I was missing. Over time, I did learn some helpful language through GPS… but what changed so much more, including my own happiness, were the shifts in my thinking. Realizing I didn’t need perfect words. Realizing I could grow right alongside my child. This slide is from our recent workshop, The One Parenting Shift That Changes Everything. Every day is a chance to grow together, not just for our children, but for us.
