YATA is a multi-faceted youth development program designed to decrease truancy, combat criminogenic factors, and improve the lives of Lansing youth through four major components of the program

Mentorship: 4-6 hours of weekly contact with an undergraduate mentor in the affiliated course at Michigan State University (PSY 490). Athletics: Involvement in sports (basketball team) for a supervised leis

ure and recreation activity that has an attendance and academic performance requirement to participate. Community Outreach: Give each student an opportunity to explore, learn, and give back to individuals in their own environment through different community-based activities. Career-driven activities: Strength-based activities focused around skill-building and professional development, such as career day, resume and interview preparation.
