Our Story
Torchbearer Reentry began in 2017 as an online support group for those struggling in chemical dependency. In 1998 we began mentoring women and men recovering from the abuse of domestic violent and the disease of addiction. As Torchbearer Reentry continued to change, in 2008 we grew our mentor services to include a reentry program for men and women post incarceration. In 2016 we expanded to open Pathway Transitional Living for men post incarceration. With the big move, we also changed our name from the Mentoring Support to Torchbearer Reentry to better reflect our growing mission. In 2017 we recognize there was a greater need to continue to reach the individual that dealing with the challenges of reestablishing their lives, so we extended the online support group by adding to reentry for those who seek to integrate back into their lives and community. Since 2016 there has been an almost constant rise in TR’s program. Coupled with more than 2,000 releasee being release daily in and around the Houston area, Torchbearer has seen a dramatic increase in the number of clients requesting services.
