An old newspaper article about my late friend, and teacher, Nick Lenz. I found it tucked into a used Bonsai book I purchased many years ago.

He was a gifted author and original thinker the last paragraph was pure Lenz. "Growing bonsai is an absurd thing to do," he admits, and his voice trails off in another of the paradoxes he must mull over as he waters and prunes and wires the branches of his trees: "They give me the flutters because they draw me back to the environments they are modeled on." he sighs, "places I can't make it to now because I'm too busy growing the bonsai that are memories of those places."
