Pittsburgh CAT is the adoption arm of Homeless Cat Management Team. This group started as an informal page dedicated to helping friendly stray cats and kittens found by HCMT volunteers doing T

rap-Neuter-Return. Volunteers spend countless hours helping to save adoptable cats from the streets of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities. We do not have a shelter so we rely on people to open up a space in their homes to foster these cats while they wait for their forever homes. This page was formed to help facilitate adoptions for the cats in foster care. All of our cats and kittens will go to their forever homes spayed/neutered, given age appropriate shots, treated for fleas, ear mites and worms, microchipped and tested for FeLV/FIV. Donations can be made via VENMO: or PAYPAL: [email protected]

We generally do not take owner surrendered animals. We focus on the cats that the shelters will not help.

Sophie is an adorable, petite female torbie, about 5-6 months old, with the most precious big eyes! Sophie loves toys of all kinds but in particular little balls and the ball towers. When she isn’t napping in her little cat tunnel, she loves falling asleep on a lap while getting lots of pets!

She came from an outdoor colony so she is still settling into life indoors but she has come a long way. She is nervous around new people and will need patience in the beginning, but once she is comfortable she craves love and attention and can’t get enough of it, going into her “love-bug frenzies.”

She is comfortable around other cats, probably cat-friendly dogs with proper introduction, and has been around older children with no issues. She doesn’t necessarily have to have a cat friend, but considering how playful she is, she would probably love one!

Her ideal home would have lots of energy and time to play with her. While the number of people doesn’t matter, again, she likes your time! She loves attention and will get antsy without it!

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. If you’re in the market for a playful, affectionate little beauty, apply to adopt Sophie today!

Meet Danny & Ham! This friendly, affectionate father-son duo are 4 years old and 2 years old, respectively, and are a delightful bonded pair. Danny is very social and particularly loving, and will even snuggle up next to you or in your lap while you watch TV or read. Ham is the playful one who enjoys batting at toys and trying to catch the bird on the wand toy. These confident easy-going boys make the perfect pair!

The boys were originally found dumped in South Park, with Danny refusing to leave his son’s side. They were adopted into a family who adored them, but one person developed allergies and their younger dog never accepted them, so they were reluctantly returned to find another home.

Danny & Ham are fine with dogs who stay out of their way and cat-savvy older kids. They would do fine as only cats, or they could live with another gentle, easy-going cat or two who won't bully Danny. Danny, you see, is a very sweet, gentle boy easily bullied by other cats.

They've both recently had dentals and have had teeth pulled, but they eat both dry and wet food with alacrity. (They do love their wet food, though!) Danny has clogged tear ducts that leave him with watery eyes and occasional irritation and staining, but he requires no additional care other than an occasional wipe.

They are neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. If you have the right home, apply to adopt this wonderful pair!

Looking for a sleek, handsome roommate who understands the value of personal space? Meet Flounder! With his gorgeous midnight-black coat and spectacular, bat-like ears, he looks like a tiny, dapper fruit bat in the very best way. Flounder is a polite, independent boy who is perfectly content doing his own thing, making him the ultimate match for someone with a busy lifestyle, a hybrid work schedule, or anyone who appreciates a cat who doesn't demand 24/7 attention!

While he is independent, Flounder has a deeply endearing way of showing affection when he’s ready for some love. Instead of a standard head butt, he loves to firmly press his little nose right into your hand when you reach out to pet him—it’s his signature greeting! When he’s not supervising the household from a distance, you can usually find him enjoying a cozy nap in his favorite hidden sanctuaries. He loves to sleep *under* things—whether that’s a bed skirt, a low-clearance couch, or a custom-built blanket fort.

Flounder is a little miracle boy! As a kitten, he had a rough start when he was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which made it incredibly difficult for his tiny body to absorb nutrition. But Flounder is a fighter. Thanks to excellent care, **he is now in complete remission, entirely off all medications, and eating wonderfully!**

To keep his tummy happy and maintain his fantastic health, Flounder does stick to a **special, specific diet**. He thinks his specialized meals are absolutely delicious, and keeping him on this routine is a breeze—a small trade-off for a lifetime of love with a healthy, thriving boy!

Because Flounder values his peace, quiet, and independence, he is looking for an adult-only home (or one with mature teens who respect his space). He is not fond of dogs or children, as the high energy and loud noises just aren't his vibe.

He would excel as the solo king of a calm environment where he can have a few cozy hiding/sleeping spots to call his own. He’s the perfect companion for a busy professional who wants a feline friend without the constant clinginess. He gives you your space, and in return, you get a low-maintenance gentleman who will enthusiastically press his nose into your hand at the end of a long day.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Ready to add a touch of dashing, bat-eared magic to your life? Apply to adopt Flounder today!

This lovable huggable big ball of fluff is Andy! He is 4 or 5 years old, a cuddly, loving, mild mannered, soft spoken, smart, curious, fun-loving cat. He loves to play, with another cat, with you, or by himself! Often you can find him running from one end of the house to the other with a buddy cat. He loves it when you toss toys to him so he can run after them. (Or when he thinks no one is watching, he'll just take off and chase after one on his own. But if you’re around, he loves it if you play with him!)

But mostly he's a lazy bum. He knows where the best beds in the house are. And he won't say no to an open lap – and make sure to keep the attention coming, especially scratching behind the ears! This affectionate boy just loves to be petted!

Andy knows that a cat nap is so much better with a friend beside him. Andy would love to have a friendly playful buddy cat or two in his new home to help keep him active and entertained. However, he would prefer a home without young children or dogs.

Andy used to experience stress cystitis, which caused difficulty urinating when he was stressed. Although he still needs monitoring, he hasn’t had an episode in several months and may never have one again. The exact cause is unknown, but his daily calming food helps reduce stress, and if it does return, it can be easily treated with medication.

Andy is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. He is sure to make any home even brighter with his s***k and cuteness, so apply to adopt him today!

Meet Clark, a sleek and striking 8-month-old “house panther” with a gentle soul. This handsome boy may be a little shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and a few Churu treats, his sweet personality quickly begins to shine.

Clark loves being talked to and enjoys quiet companionship. You’ll often find him perched in his cat tree, happily watching birds go by—his favorite pastime. He also finds comfort in cozy spaces, especially a soft hut where he can relax and feel safe.

When it comes to playtime, Clark has a soft spot for spring toys, stuffed mice, and jingle balls. While he may take a little time to warm up to being picked up, once he trusts you, he melts right in—snuggling close and enjoying being held.

Clark’s journey started outdoors, where he was born with his siblings. When he first came to his foster home, he was very scared, but he’s since learned to love the safety and comfort of indoor life. Because of his sensitive nature, Clark would thrive best in a calm home with adults, and maybe some gentle older children. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he may also do well with a gentle, older dog.

Clark gets along wonderfully with other cats and would love to be adopted alongside his friends Sally or Callie. That said, he would also be happy as your one-and-only companion if given enough time and attention.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. If you’re looking for a beautiful, sweet-natured companion who will reward your patience with love and trust, Clark just might be the perfect match!

Meet Eli & Sturgill! Sometimes the best friendships come out of nowhere - and that’s what happened with these two. What started as an unexpected pairing quickly turned into a full-blown brotherhood.

Eli (adorable buff guy) is about 6 months old and as sweet as they come. When he arrived he was overwhelmed, scared, and just really unsure, but even through all that fear, he would melt in your arms and purr and just wanted to be loved. He will be a little nervous with new situations and change, but he’s trying so hard to be brave. Thankfully, he doesn’t have to do it alone…

Enter Sturgill (AKA “Top Tabby”). At around 2 years old, he’s everything you’d want in a big brother -- calm, confident, affectionate, and endlessly kind. From the moment they met just a few weeks ago, Sturgill took Eli under his wing, helping him feel safe, loved, and a little more sure of the world. Sturgill loves to be picked up and is a total lap cat!

These two are rarely far from each other and would love to stay together - they truly bring out the best in one another! They both enjoy the simple things: catnip, spring toys, crinkle balls, and (of course) Temptations treats.

Eli and Sturgill would do best in a home with no kids or at least kids over 12, and they would strongly prefer a dog-free home. They’re happy to share their space with other friendly cats. Their adopter will need to be patient with Eli, and to be sure to give him time to adjust. Sturgill will be there every step of the way!

Sturgill does have a tiny touch of asthma - so a home that doesn’t do a lot of candles and plug ins would be best for him! (He does not require daily meds and has not shown any signs of asthma since January, more just something to be aware of).

They are neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. If you’re looking for a built-in bond and double the love, these two might just be your perfect match!

☀️ We know it’s blazing hot right now, but winter will be here before we know it! ❄️

We’re already starting to prepare for our annual Winter Cat Shelter Project and are looking for a little help from our community.

Pittsburgh C.A.T. / Homeless Cat Management Team is in need of garage, warehouse, or storage space (preferably in the South Hills) to store clean Styrofoam coolers that will be used to build winter shelters for community cats.

📦 We currently have about 30 coolers and expect to collect up to 80 total. We can divide them between multiple locations if needed, but we’d like to keep at least 20 together at any one location.

The coolers would be stored now through late September/early October, when they’ll be moved to our shelter-building location.

If you have some extra space, or know someone who does, and would be willing to help, please comment here or send us a message!

Every winter, these shelters help countless outdoor cats stay warm, dry, and protected from the elements. Your unused corner of a garage or warehouse could make a huge difference. ❤️🐱

Meet Molly, a gorgeous, petite 2-year-old girl with bunny-soft fur. Once Molly trusts you, she's incredibly affectionate and loves attention. She'll curl up at your feet, settle into your lap, or even stand up and place her paws on your knees to politely (or not-so-politely!) demand pets. She also enjoys sprawling across her foster mom’s desk for dedicated petting sessions during worktime and can even be picked up and cuddled for short periods.

She's also playful and enjoys wand toys, bell balls, and rattle mice. Watching her chase a toy is a great reminder that she's still a young cat with plenty of kitten spirit left in her!

Molly is still a sensitive girl and can be easily startled. When she's nervous, she'll retreat to her safe space to regroup. Because of this, she's happiest when she's allowed to approach people on her own terms. Her ideal adopter will be patient, calm, and willing to sit quietly while she builds confidence and trust.

One thing that makes Molly truly special: she absolutely loves other cats. In fact, a friendly resident cat is a must for her new home! Having a confident feline friend helps Molly feel secure and adjust more quickly to new surroundings. We'd especially love for her to join a home with a cat who has a proven history of welcoming newcomers. (If you’re in the market for a pair, Molly is sharing a foster room with Murray and Patrick, who are also up for adoption. She is particularly good friends with Murray, who has equally soft fur, so if you’re looking for a friend for her, Murray is also available!)

Molly has made tremendous progress, but adopters should know that when she feels cornered or unsafe, she may occasionally reinforce her boundaries. This behavior has improved dramatically and is rarely seen now, but it may resurface temporarily during the stress of moving to a new home. She needs someone who understands that trust takes time and who can give her the patience she deserves.

Because of her sensitive nature, we think Molly would do best in a home with only teens and adults and without dogs. However, Molly is still young. She’s already come a long way, and we expect her to become even more confident with time!

And one final note: Molly's beautiful coat comes with a lot of fluff! She will need regular brushing to keep her looking and feeling her best.

Molly is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and up to date on all vaccinations. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle companion and have a friendly feline who would love a new best friend, Molly may be the perfect addition to your family!

Hi, I’m Ouna. Yes, I know — I look a little grumpy, but I promise it’s just my face! Really, I'm sweet and fun. I’m 4 years old, and I’ve been waiting for my forever home since 2024. At first, I might hang back and observe you from a safe, cozy distance, 'cuz I like to take my time getting to know new people. But if you’re patient with me, you’ll start to see the real me come out—and that’s where things get fun!

Once I feel comfortable, I turn into a playful little goofball. I love racing around the house like I’m on an important mission (usually involving my jingle bell balls, crinkle balls, or my all-time favorite—my “schmousey”). I take my toy hunting very seriously… until I don’t, and then I’m rolling around being silly!

When I’m not on patrol, I’m all about the cozy life. I enjoy being brushed, and I’ll happily curl up on the couch with you for a movie night. Give me some Temptations treats, a pinch of catnip, and a sunny window where I can watch birds and squirrels, and I’m in heaven.

I do like being petted—but I’m not a fan of being picked up. A girl has her boundaries, you know? Because of that, I’d do best in a home with teens or adults who understand that love doesn’t always mean being carried around.

I’d really love a calm home where I can be your one and only—no dogs or other cats, please. I’ve been waiting a while, and I’d love to finally be the star of someone’s world!

I’m already spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and fully up to date on my vaccinations—basically, I’m all set to move in and start my new life.

If you’re looking for a sweet, slightly misunderstood, secretly silly companion, I think we might be perfect for each other.

—Ouna 🐾
