Phoenix Birds of Savannah.

Phoenix Birds of Savannah. Pet Parrot Page. Available to give Parrot talks at public events. Admin for several parrot groups Can you take a Cockatoo? There are always birds that need homes.

I got the message one day and my adventure started. First a cockatoo with an underbite (which needed weekly work). Then a conure from a smoked filled house. Then an African Grey abandoned after its owner passed away... then the Macaw from a rescue that was going out of business. Our country has a big problem with not keeping animals for their full lifetimes. In the case of parrots, its nearly impo

ssible due to their long lifespans. I occasionally hear about birds needing homes and I will always try to message all my friends and find a good candidate. My HOA prevents me from having any more birds and I am not allowed to take in strays and rehome them. But I have assembled a small community of people who are always willing to help.

You aren’t seeing things. When Sugar Bear first came to live with us he had an underbite. That is abnormal for a parrot. His bottom beak would continue to grow out and we had to grind his beak regularly or eventually he wouldn't have been able to close his mouth or eat. Over the course of the last 2 years, making subtle adjustments weekly, we have almost fixed this issue. Sugar Bear has an overbite now, which is getting more normal each week. Another lesson from the parrots. There might be a solution, but it might take a lot of very small improvements to get there.

I hope you had the chance to check out the fashion video the parrots participated in. Here’s a screenshot from behind the scenes. That actress had Skittles on her head most of the day.

Today was interesting. The birds participated in a Fashion Design Art Film shoot in Pooler GA. Pictures forthcoming. The birds were very polite to all the actresses and occasionally polite to me. Everyone had a good time! The film should be terrific, and for the SCAD students involved, they received an education in filming with animals they wont soon forgot. It's not for the feint of heart to reach out to a macaw and ask him to step up. These ladies were up to the challenges and I think the finished product will be stellar.
