Our Story
Emerald Woods is a residential facility serving people impaired with mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, pain disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. We are modeled after Hopewell Therapeutic Farming Facility in Mesopotamia, Ohio who has achieved successful results in improving the lives of those afflicted with mental illnesses and disorders that impact and individual’s ability to live life according to their greatest potential. We offer the security of long term residency and, when appropriate, return to the community. Some residents need help with things as simple as reminding them to brush their teeth and hair while others have found ways to work with their mental illness but need help with performing the steps to take a dream, such as a dream job or living on their own, and make it a structured goal with steps such as gaining job training or setting a household budget. Our program manager will work with residents daily on their short and long term goals as they work as a family to cook meals, tidy the home, write budgets, get creative in the art studio, visit medical doctors, and talk in group. Residents will have fun with activities such as riding horses, animal therapy visits, music therapy, gardening, farm visits, and more which are all ways for mentally ill people to find ways they shine and can contribute to their community when they leave ours. We welcome residents who don’t know their next treatment steps, we want to break the cycle of multiple in patient hospital stays and other negative side effects of mental illness. Our door will always be open and an extra seat will always be at our dinner table for previous residents facing a difficult time. At this time we do not accept insurance.
