International Deaf Partnerships (IDP) is established as a non-profit organization for the purpose of strengthening deaf education, promoting deaf advocacy and better living conditions for deaf people in Latin America and Africa within the framework of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Founded in 1999 to foster foreign language learning with seed money

from the US Department of Education, IDP has since evolved into a network of partners that includes deaf communities in the Americas and Africa.
