Happy birthday to us! Soroptimist International of Sedro-Woolley was chartered om June 17, 1949! We are so happy to still be serving the community after 77 years! Now is a great time for YOU to consider joining us. Our best years are yet to come!

Kathi was a big Soroptimist presence in Skagit county. Our condolences to her husband, family, and the Burlington club.

On May 31st, we bid a heartfelt farewell to our beloved friend and devoted Soroptimist member, Kathi Kallstrom Marilley, whose passing after a fall at home left an unfillable void in our lives. With a remarkable 40-year legacy of service, Kathi joined our Burlington Soroptimist Club in 1986, inspiring countless individuals, and proudly served as club president in 2007-2008. Her tireless dedication shone brightly through her unwavering commitment to various committees, most notably the BayView Women's Run, where she warmly welcomed participants with a radiant smile as she was our leading “traffic queen”! Even after the Thrift Shop closed its doors in 2013, Kathi's selflessness continued to impact our community. Her generous spirit, infectious love, and warm hospitality made everyone feel treasured and valued. We will gather to celebrate Kathi's life on July 25th at the Vanderveen Farm Venue from 11:30-2:00, 15673 Memorial Hwy Mount Vernon, honoring the profound impact of this extraordinary woman, a true pillar of the Burlington community.
A special tribute to Kathi will also be featured on the Hawthorne website, allowing her legacy to continue inspiring us all.

Soroptimist International of Sedro-Woolley is offering Continuing Education Scholarships to Sedro-Woolley and Concrete graduates who have completed at least one year of college or vocational school and are continuing their education. Eligible applicants must be graduates from Sedro-Woolley or Concrete who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education.

To apply, please submit the following:
- An essay explaining your future educational goals
- A transcript of this year’s grades
- Your name, phone number, email, mailing address, and the high school you graduated from, including the year graduated

Mail your application to:

Our biggest celebration of the year was today! Recognizing 2026 high school scholarship winners, our CTE Students of the month for the whole school year, and the 100th birthday of our member, Barbara Thompson! At this annual luncheon our winners invite guests and we invite SWHS staff involved in our program. Thanks to all for another year of excellence! And congrats to 1943 SWHS graduate, Barbara!
