We loved having the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Education students back at HEARTH for their annual Diversity Project! 💛

During Monday Night Childcare, they created meaningful “Diversity Stations” for our kiddos of all ages - celebrating what makes each child unique and special. From decorating sunglasses and ukuleles to building “I Am Special Because…” chains, creating cultural flags, kindness hearts, self-portraits, and even a “Quilt of Themselves,” every activity encouraged self-expression, inclusion, and confidence.

To top it all off, each child received a take-home bag filled with crafts and supportive items to continue the learning beyond HEARTH.

Thank you to these incredible students for bringing creativity, compassion, and joy to our community - we are so grateful for your partnership!

Access to transportation isn’t just about getting from point A to point B — it’s about stability, opportunity, and safety.

Recent conversations around proposed bus route cuts in the Shaler area highlight a deeper issue: when transportation is reduced, barriers grow.

As we shared in a recent TribLive article, even partial service reductions along Mt. Royal could create serious challenges — forcing families to navigate unsafe or unrealistic alternatives just to get to work, child care, or essential services.

For the families we serve, these aren’t minor inconveniences. They can mean:
• Missed work shifts
• Disrupted child care
• Increased financial strain
• Risk to housing stability

When systems people rely on are taken away, the ripple effects are real — and they are felt most by those already facing barriers.

We all have a role to play in protecting access in our communities.

👉 Contact your local officials and share why reliable public transportation matters
👉 Stay informed and speak up when changes are proposed
👉 Advocate for solutions that support—not hinder—families working toward stability

Because stronger communities are built when access is protected for everyone.

Big moment over here at HEARTH 💛

Our team came together to celebrate one incredible mom as she takes the next step—moving into permanent housing with her family. This milestone represents so much more than a new set of keys… it’s stability, safety, and a fresh start.

To the newest HEARTH graduate: we are so proud of you and all that you’ve accomplished. Watching you build a new chapter for your family has been an honor.
This is what it’s all about ✨

As we wrap up Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re reflecting on the incredible impact our community has made 💛

In 2025 alone, volunteers gave over 1,091 hours of their time—representing more than $38,000 in value poured directly into supporting moms and children at HEARTH.

But the truth is, the impact goes far beyond numbers. Every meal served, every apartment set up, every moment spent showing up with care creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what we can see.

To every person who has given their time, energy, and heart to this work—thank you. We truly could not do this without you.

And if you’ve ever thought about volunteering, consider this your sign. There is a place for you here, and what you give has the power to change lives—yours included.

It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we’re kicking things off by celebrating an incredible group of women who have been part of the HEARTH community for years! 💫

Shoutout to our amazing clothing needs volunteers — Teresa, Karla, Gina, Debbie, Denise, Claudia, Joann, Kim, and Susan. 💛

These dedicated women keep our clothing closet stocked, organized, and ready for every family who walks through our doors. They go above and beyond by personally shopping for each new resident, making sure every mom and child has what they need to begin their journey with dignity, comfort, and care.

Their kindness shows up in every detail — and it makes a lasting impact.

Join us in thanking this wonderful group of women! ❤️
