SUPPORT FREE PRESS & TIMOTHY POLEON POLITICIANS have made concerted efforts to silence persons who they deem a threat to their existence

Saint Lucia’s minister for legal affairs, home affairs and national security, Phillip La Corbiniere announced that he is taking legal action against local broadcast journalist Timothy Poleon and Radio Caribbean (RCI). La Corbiniere also said that “this is just the first round” and that “others are also going to be included and served.”

However, in a statement released on Friday, the minister did

not elaborate on what that legal action was; what he found objectionable in Poleon’s conduct; or what others are going to be included in the threatened action. Poleon is known to have read in its entirety a recent Caribbean News Now article on the air, which in turn created considerable local comment, but since the article itself is not actionable in any respect, it is not known at this time if this has anything to do with La Corbiniere’s threat of legal action. In Poleon's and Press defense, this page will sought to garner support from across the region to send a clear message to political operatives that we live in a world where freedom is a fundamental right and that no amount of intimidation and aggression will take this right from us.
