Since 2012, WP/Maine has facilitated an annual educational program with NAPF's Peace Leadership Director, Paul K. Chappell, a West Point graduate, Iraq War vet, and the author of four books on war and peace. In 2012, we partnered with Waterfall Arts in Belfast, Maine, to create a two-man art exhibit, "The War on Peace," featuring the work of Maine Master Artist Alan Magee and Americans Who Tell th

e Truth artist Robert Shetterly. One of the AWTT portraits included in that show was of Chappell, who gave a gallery talk as part of the exhibit. In addition to speaking at Waterfall Arts, Chappell also spoke at the University of Maine Orono and Farmington campuses and met with Mt. View HIgh School Peace Jam students. In 2013, WP/Maine partnered with AWTT, UM Peace & Reconciliation program, Pax Christi Maine and Veterans For Peace 003 to offer a three-day Peace Leadership Training program with Chappell at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast. About 100 people attended the public events offered during the training weekend; more than 40 took at least one day of training; and 31 people completed the full training. We've continued to offer similar programs and talks each year. Please visit our webpage for more information!
