Q: Describe a social issue/challenge that you want to help change and why? How will you address this issue?
A: “Environmental injustice is a social issue that affects countless communities, yet it often goes unnoticed by those in positions of power. My work with EEECHO (Education, Economics, Environmental, Climate, and Health Organization) opened my eyes to the devastating effects of environmental neglect on marginalized communities. During my internship, I collaborated with two other interns to create a documentary on the chronic flooding in the Forest Heights community of Gulfport, Mississippi…. Rather than following a traditional pre-med track, I intend to major in Human Biology, Health, and Society at Cornell. This will allow me to explore the intersection of healthcare and environmental factors, ensuring that I approach medicine with a broader understanding of the systemic issues that affect patient outcomes.”

Q: Describe a social issue/challenge that you want to help change and why? How will you address this issue?
A: “I have witnessed firsthand how a lack of financial literacy can limit opportunities and create cycles of hardship. These personal experiences have driven me to improve financial literacy in underrepresented communities—a goal I believe is essential for empowering families to take control of their futures… My personal journey has taught me that financial literacy is not just about managing money—it’s about opening doors to opportunity and providing a sense of security. I have seen how the absence of financial education can lead to missed chances and ongoing struggles. By combining community-based research, innovative educational resources, and a supportive network of advocates, I am determined to help underrepresented communities break free from the cycle of financial instability.”

📝 On Sisterhood..
“Women do not need to be alike to be sisters… Sisterhood offers us the opportunity to connect through shared values of kindness and equality. A sisterhood built on acceptance, ambition, and integrity will always prove more impactful than any business. Women are born with a drive for compassion and charity, and it is this drive that keeps the world moving forward. We are committed to giving others the same opportunities we were fortunate to receive. Though everyone’s circumstances differ, the ability to live and experience life motivates women to give their all so that others feel valued and appreciated.”

Q: Describe a social issue/challenge that you want to help change and why? How will you address this issue?
A: “Breathe. How bad does it hurt on a scale of 1 to 10?” To many, this question might seem like a routine part of medical care—an easy way to measure pain. However, for minority groups, this question carries a much heavier weight. It’s not just about numbers; it’s about a system where our voices often go unheard and our pain is frequently dismissed. Despite expressing similar levels of discomfort, minority patients often receive insufficient treatment due to centuries of bias and lack of representation… To combat this, I am pursuing a career as a pediatrician with the goal of creating an environment where young patients feel heard, valued, and respected. Not only do I strive to own my own childcare clinic, but I also hope for it to be a safe haven for children of all cultures. By encouraging children to articulate their feelings and symptoms early on, I hope to empower them to express their medical needs with confidence, making them more likely to seek help when needed.”
