Earlier this month, Prof. Regina Jorgenson took research students on a trip to the Lick Observatory !!
1. Students on the steps of the Lick Observatory Shane 3-meter telescope.
2. In the control room at the end of a long night of observing!
3. (Left to right): Isis, David, and Ryzanaiya with (part of!) the telescope and the attached Kast Double Spectrograph.
4. The primary mirror - housed in the base (lower right here) is 3 meters in diameter.  This was taken in the middle of the first night when there were a few unfortunate clouds!
5. In the control room learning from the support Astronomer and the telescope operator.
6. View from just outside the Shane towards the west at sunset.  You can see the historic Lick Observatory dome in the distance.
