JCAC Rescue Warriors We are a group of volunteers that network the dogs that are at the JCAC Animal Shelter in Barnhart, MO to help them get out of the shelter safely.

We network dogs that are at the Jefferson County Animal Control to prevent them from being euthanized. We network to re-unite owners, find adopters and rescue. We do not work for the shelter.

CODE RED EUTHANASIA CRUNCH TIME 🚨 JCAC IS OVER FULL AND HAVE TO OPEN 3 RUNS BY END OF WEEK! ALL DOGS HW NEG! 2 NEUTERED These 4 dogs need ADOPTION OR RESCUE to make them safe! 3 of these dogs have names. All of these dogs deserve the chance their owners didn't give them!! 1st pup Auggie is 7 years old and still a huge play baby!! Fully vetted HW NEG 25 in pledges.
2nd 2 yr old pup has no name. He has been at JCAC for over 200 days!! They put him thru heartworm treatment and he's now NEGATIVE and fully vetted!! 80 in pledges.
3rd dog is 2 yr old 49 lb HW NEG Apollo. He has 335 in pledges!
4th dog is Gunner. 3 yrs old. HW NEG 50 in pledges

Earlier this week there were posts and even a TV news story about the puppies found in a creek... this was an entire family! Dad, mom and babies are all together and being cared for at JCAC. I will post them out as soon as they have done all temperament testing etc. The daddy will be available for adoption or rescue. Mom and puppies will stay together and be available for rescue only due to the young age of the puppies.

It’s me! August, Auggie, Auggie Poo… I keep getting more nicknames the longer I’m in here! After 100 days in the shelter, I’ve learned that I really miss having a family. I am a 7 year old, neutered Pitbull mix that is full of life! I enjoy chasing tennis balls, making stuffies explode like confetti, and being the world champ at tug-o-war. I may be on the “older” side, but you’re only as old as you feel right? And right now, I ALMOST feel like a million bucks! What would really make me feel like the full million bucks is going home with you and having a yard to call my own. I’m not always sure how I feel about other dogs, so if you want to take me home, I have to meet your pooch first. Since I’m already neutered, my adoption fee is only $50! Quite a steal for a handsome boy like me. The adoption fee covers my vaccines, deworming, flea and tick treatment, microchip, and a wellness exam at our vet. From JCAC... We are currently looking for any information we can find on the owners of these two pups. They were seen being thrown out of a car window while driving on Old Highway A in Festus. As you can see, they are very emaciated and in poor shape. They were sent to the vet to be checked out and to treat the horrible road rash they had on their poor neglected skin. The lack of food has restricted these dogs from being able to grow and they were thought to be 3 months old, their actual age is about 9 months! It was also found these poor babies have serious mange on their skin. Please help animal control find the person who tossed these lives out on the highway like they were nothing. Let me clarify... this page is staffed by one person. Me. I am not employed by Jefferson County. I have been the volunteer networker for years. Thru the last management and facility and the new management and facility. The current staff at Jefferson County Animal Control care about these animals. One dog has been with them for over 200 days. They got funding for his heartworm treatment, drove him to his appointments and cared for him while he was sick. This decision to finally have to start euthanizing is not done lightly but out of desperation for our current state of rescue. Most animal controls, shelters and rescues are currently closed to intake. These dogs have been posted by the county for many months with no success at finding adopters or rescue. This is unfortunately the plight of ALL Animal Controls across our state. What is really maddening is that the owners for most of these dogs are known. Their owners never reclaimed them and left them to this fate. The same fate that animal control has tried to avoid. At the end of the day animal control is not a humane society or a rescue. They have to have open runs to be able to take in strays, bite cases and court cases. At some point local government was bound to step in and mandate that space be made. Please know that the staff will be devastated to lose any one of these dogs that they care for and spend every day in the play yard with. Please keep that in mind when seeing these code red posts. Please share to find adoption or rescue.

I don’t know who gave me access to the page, but what’s up?! I’m Gunner, and I’m a really goofy guy. I am a 3 year old Pitbull mix who’s ready to squeeze my way into your life. I had a family at one point, but they ended up not being able to take care of me. That’s okay though, because now I have this sick play yard and endless toys! BUT it’d be a lot cooler if I could have those things at your place… permanently. I like to take humans on walks, sometimes jogs. So what? We’re getting ready for swimsuit season baby! I don’t mind hanging out with other dogs, so if you have some at your place that’d be fine. My adoption fee is $135, and you get to take me home fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, flea and tick treated, and neutered. If you’re down to have a good time ALL of the time, I’m your guy!

Meet our totally rad redheaded friend! This good-looking guy has been at our shelter for 110 DAYS! We really don’t get it. He is a handsome Pointer mix boy around 2 years old and to leave this place in the dust and be on his way to his new home! He’s playful, loving, likes other dogs, gives hugs and kisses… what more could you want! He’s the total package, but time and time again he gets looked over. His favorite game to play is fetch and he likes to pick and choose his own toys. He needs to be reminded to mind his manners sometimes, but honestly who doesn’t! He’s extremely treat motivated and smart so training should be a breeze. He would do great with older and sturdier kids since he sometimes doesn’t know his own strength and tends to jump up to give you kisses. His adoption fee is only 50 since he’s neutered and includes all vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick treatment, a microchip, and a wellness exam from our vet. Please don’t let this happy go lucky guy spend another day at the shelter! He’s an awesome boy who deserves a special family of his own.

I am a very handsome 2 year old Pitbull mix. I once had owners, however they were unable to provide an ideal life for me. I am playful and LOVE my shelter humans. They took some time to gain my trust after a life of uncertainty, and finally I decided to show them my loving side. If you take your time with me, you’ll see! I don’t really know how to act with other pups since I had to fight tooth and nail for the essentials at my last home. I was in a small room where another dog and I only had room to lay on top of one another. However, I was dog tested at the shelter again and it turns out if I am the dominant dog in the house, I am okay. It will be an adjustment for me to live with another dog again though. I think I am worthy of love again and I’m hoping the right someone sees this plea. My adoption fee is $135 and includes all my deworming, flea and tick treatment, vaccinations, a microchip, and my neuter. So, what do you say? Can I finally have my “happy ever after” with you?

It is with great joy that we share as of February 22nd our previously Heartworm positive pup has now tested negative! ID # 751364 is now up for adoption and he’s ready to find a home. He is an extremely energetic boy who enjoys playing fetch and going on walks. He proudly claims the title of “Toy Destroyer” and takes great pride in it. When it comes to making furry friends he can be quite picky and may just prefer a home as a solo pup. He is already neutered, so his adoption fee is only 50. The adoption fee includes all of his vaccinations, deworming, microchip, flea and tick treatment, and a wellness exam from our vet. He's ready to start his new life after being given a second chance!
