Milwaukee Walk For Recovery

Join our annual walk for addiction recovery awareness. Come join us and take strides for strengthening the voice of recovery! Then we walk!

We begin this event with gratitude and thanks to all who volunteer and participate in our mission. The event begins with a speaker who discusses the struggles of recovery. We walk one mile to demonstrate our togetherness and the strength needed to support recovery in the community. Following the walk is a social gathering where food and items for purchase are available.

" No longer should people who suffer from the diseases of addiction or mental health be forced to hide in the shadows while funding and benefits are given to more socially acceptable illnesses. It is time that all people of recovery stand together and be counted should they choose to be.

We are a conglomeration of recovery service providers, recovering persons, members of the 12 step community and supporting friends and family. We walk to honor those who have gone before us and persevered through the stigma and prejudice. We walk to celebrate the personal victories over addictions that occur around us everyday and to those that fight the battles. We walk to empower those who will come after us, that their voice may also be heard. We walk to ensure a life free from addiction and mental illness."
