Last week, we shared why Community Governance is one of the five core impact areas of Education PLUS.
Improving learning outcomes requires more than support inside the classroom. It also means strengthening the role families and communities play in children’s education.
Today, we’re sharing what that looks like in practice.
Meet a mother from rural Nepal who takes part in a mothers’ group supported through UWS’ Education plus programme. Through community discussions and shared learning, she gained the confidence and skills to better support her children’s education at home.
Before, helping her children outside school was difficult. Now, she uses her mobile phone and the internet to help them search for answers, encourages them while they study, and stays actively involved in their learning.
The result?
👩👧 Mothers more confident supporting learning at home
📱 Families using digital tools to continue learning beyond the classroom
🏫 Communities taking a stronger role in children’s education and school accountability
When communities are empowered to take ownership of education, lasting change happens for children.
