🌍 A week of conversations, partnerships and ideas.

Over the past week at , UWS Global CEO Graeme Hodge has joined ministers, funders, education leaders and fellow implementers to discuss some of the biggest questions facing global education today.

📚From foundational learning and early years investment to systems change, government partnerships and the future of development finance, one theme has remained constant: lasting progress happens when we work together.

Across discussions hosted by Global Schools Forum, UNICEF, Education House and Devex, we explored how stronger systems, sustainable financing and effective partnerships can help ensure more children have access to quality education.

🤝As education systems continue to face complex challenges, strong partnerships and locally led solutions will be essential to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, imagine and shape their own future.

🇲🇬 Strengthening partnerships for sustainable change in education.

This week, UWS Global CEO Graeme Hodge met with Madagascar's Minister of National Education, Her Excellency Sendra Nirina Rajaonarison, to discuss our shared commitment to supporting quality education in underserved communities.

Over the past week, UWS Madagascar has opened four new schools, bringing our total to 30 schools across the south-west region, serving almost 16,000 children.

At UWS, we believe lasting change happens when communities, governments and partners work together. Our discussions focused on how we can deepen collaboration to strengthen teacher development, support school communities and contribute to long-term improvements in learning outcomes.

Thank you to the Ministère de l'Education Nationale de Madagascar for its warm welcome and continued partnership.

We look forward to continuing this partnership and building on our shared ambition for every child to have the opportunity to learn, imagine and shape their own future.

🔊 Turn It Up!

It's the very first week of school at the newly opened Namatoa School in Madagascar, and the children are already filling the classrooms with laughter, music, and joy.

Listen closely, and you'll hear the teacher leading a song:
🎶 "If you're happy, laugh!"
🎶 "If you're happy, dance!"
🎶 "If you're happy, stand up!"

And judging by the children's reactions, there's plenty to be happy about.

🏆 Students Supporting Students

We're thrilled to celebrate Sophia from The British School in Tokyo who has received a COBIS Student Achievement Award 2026.

These global awards recognise students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their school, their community and the wider world. Sophia was recognised for her outstanding dedication to charitable causes and student leadership.

As a UWS school ambassador, Sophia played a leading role in raising 350,000 Yen for a UWS school in Nepal through creative fundraising initiatives, including bake sales and art sales.

🎶 Students Supporting Students

From inspiring musical performances to celebrating cultures from around the world, students at Dubai College continue to show what's possible when young people come together to create change.

Through events such as the annual Music Charity Love concert and International Day, students have helped support UWS schools in Nepal while celebrating the diversity, talent and generosity within their own community.
