Mums@Work turns 16 this week 💛

What started as a small hope to support mothers has grown into a community of women finding their way back to work, building businesses, learning new skills, and opening new doors.

To every mum, partner, volunteer, employer and friend who has been part of this journey — thank you.

16 years on, we’re still here for women who are ready for their next chapter.
❤️❤️❤️

A year into Singapore's flexible work guidelines, the numbers look good on paper. 9 in 10 requests approved. 7 in 10 firms offering some form of flexibility.

But six out of eight employees interviewed for this CNA piece refused to be named. Because they were afraid of repercussions. That gap between the statistics and the silence says a lot.

The truth is, guidelines can change a process — but they can't change a belief overnight. The belief that being seen in the office equals commitment. That asking for flexibility means you're less serious about your career. That a mother who works from home is somehow getting an unfair advantage over her teammates.

And here's what doesn't get said enough in the fertility
conversation: one father in this article shared that he and his wife only felt ready to have their first child because remote work was the norm during COVID. A second child now feels out of reach — not because of money, but because of the daily uncertainty of whether his flexibility will cost him his job one day.
No bonus cheque fixes that.

We still have work to do — in how managers lead, how teammates extend trust, and how organisations make sure flexibility doesn't quietly become a career penalty.
Agree? 💙

Micromanaging, unhelpful colleagues and the threat of job loss – workers tell CNA about the costs of flexibility in the workplace.
