BasicNeeds US is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization, dedicated to training and mobilizing networks of communities through the Model for Mental Health and Development to better support the health, social, and economic needs of people with mental illness in the US. We are please to be part of a wider network and supporter of BasicNeeds programs in low income countries around the world.

After visiting five inclusive VSLA groups from the Ashanti Region in Ghana last week, I am more convinced than ever of the power of these groups to strengthen communities and provide sustainable support for people with mental and physical disabilities. There are important lessons for the US. Thanks to the ECOM Foundation for steady support.
