The Keaton Emery Memorial Foundation will provide underprivileged young people with the opportunity to access resources such as mental health services and further education, in memory of Keaton Emery who tragically died in September 2017 at the age of 23. Keaton’s journey came to a heartbreaking end in September 2017 when he tragically fell to his death in Italy, just days before his 24th birthday
. The Keaton Emery Memorial Foundation has been set up to honour his memory, and in the hope that we can continue to spread even a fraction of the positivity and inspiration that Keaton gave to the world. Keaton was very conscious that his privileged upbringing had financially and emotionally given him enormous opportunities for the way he could live his life, and that many young people do not have such options open to them. He was particularly keen to promote education and training that would help youngsters make their way in a world that will shortly be dominated by Artificial Intelligence. There are unfortunately many young people in care or are homeless that cannot access further education. For this reason, The Keaton Emery Memorial Foundation will help finance such youngsters in the North of England. In April 2018, KEMF made a donation of £85,000 to Centrepoint to go towards the setting up of a mental health unit at their Oldham Street premises in Manchester. With the donation and other match-funding, they have been able recruit two mental health advisors, one therapist and one substance use worker. With this team, CP will be able to provide mental health care within 2 weeks for the worst affected and help 187 youngsters per year. This scheme will provide almost immediate help to people in need, and both our team and the team at CP are excited by the positive results this will achieve. As a result of our donation, the mental health unit was up and running on 16th July 2018. As of November 2021, KEMF has donated a total of £315,000 to Centrepoint to help continue to fund their services to assist homeless young people in Manchester. Regular updates will be provided on our website. If you would like to donate, please click here: https://www.justgiving.com/keatonemeryfoundation
