Give Me A Break Foundation provides children of cancer patients a much-needed break. It is often hard for parents to devote the time or energy their children need while they are going through treatment. Give Me A Break
provides kids, ages 4-14, with fun monthly outings. We give them the opportunity to get out and do something great, meet other kids going through similar situations, and have counselors who can provide emotional support. Give Me A Break was started by and is run by high school students who want to provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment while doing something good for their community. These outings will be free to all participants. Students will fundraise year-round to provide outings to places such as movies, picnics, Sky High, Color Me Mine, bowling, the zoo, and many others. Outings will take place once a month and kids can sign up online for one outing at a time. There will always be plenty of high-school counselors on each outing, as well as a few adult chaperones. Counselors will receive sensitivity training from a psychologist before each event. Transportation will not be provided, however all outings will be local in the San Fernando Valley.
