Scottish folk legend holds, that there are great, ethereal, magical creatures who live in the depths of the sea. They appear as seals, but are really Selkie - half woman, half seal, able to shape-shift and shed their skin to dance under the moon and stars. In their human form, Selkies are always referred to as being so attractive, graceful, and kind that fishermen who encounter them, fall desperately in love and hide away their skins in order to bind them to land and marry them.
I believe that all women are Selkie.
We are all made of land and sea.
We all dive deep, sing clear,
laugh laud and dance free.
Until we lose our skin…
When a Selkie loses her skin or stays too long on land, she dries out. Her dreams become dusty, her eyes get dull, her voice raspy, her song quiet...her fierce will and wild inner flame withers away. The hauntingly sad and rarely told part of the tale...
Sounds familiar? You are not alone... So many of us in several generations now, had been demanded of and pressured into putting our masculine “land force” ahead of our feminine “water depth.” We work hard and try harder. We worry, we doubt, we overthink, we compromise, we sacrifice. We push, we prove, we produce. If at first we don’t succeed our way, we force it and bargain it, till we see it done.
Many of us have crawled on land and stayed too long, and forgotten who we really are, where we come from and how potent we are.
..But the SEA has been calling us back for years. Can you hear it? To swim down, down, into the watery depths of your soul, to restore freedom and balance, to listen, feel, dream, to explore, inspire and express, freely.
So where is your skin, dear Sister?
Do you need help to find it, nourish it, love it, don it?
To help you wear it with confidence and grace,
so you can bring your MAGIC forth into this world?
IT IS TIME. ❤
