Web Work for Women Aims to provide skill development training to underprivileged adolescent women. It targets 20 beneficiaries who are young women age between 15 to 19.

Background, Web Work for Women (3W)

The Y2Y is a forum for sharing knowledge, development collaborations, and empowering young WBG employees to co-design solutions to overcome challenges and become agent of social changes. It enables youth to contribute more significant to the goals of eliminating poverty and promoting shared prosperity. The Youth Innovation Fund is an initiative within the Y2Y w

hich provides opportunity for teams who may be working in different units of the WBG or even in different countries, to work together on designing and implementing a project that furthers an identified development goal.

3W, the “Web Work for Women” is one of the winning projects of the Youth Innovation Fund in FY15. The development objective is to provide vocational training, the deprived youth to enhance their skills to find or create sustainable employment opportunities. The objective of the program is to connect underprivileged young women in Bangladesh for job opportunities in high-skilled sectors through skills training on basic computer literacy and web-based graphic design. The project is composed of two main components: (1) A5-day residential bootcamp and weekly computer skills classes; and (2) Activities for linking participants with employment opportunities. In order to deliver these aspects of the project, the YIF team is collaborating with BRAC, an experienced local NGO with ongoing educational programs targeting women in lower income neighborhood in Dhaka. BRAC support recruiting training participants utilizing the network with local communities to developed through its Adolescent Development Program (ADP). A local IT firm DCASTALIA has been appointed for local vendor. DCASTALIA is providing design and delivering the technical training and supporting for networking between participants throughout the program. Also DCASTALIA is supporting space and the facility for weekly training, and monitoring program implementation. An overall cooperation is ensuring the success of the project.
