Juneteenth reminds us that freedom has never been given freely, it has always been fought for.

It’s a celebration of liberation, but also a reflection on how long justice can be delayed and how much work remains.

At PRISM, we recognize that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is deeply connected to the broader fight for racial justice. There is no liberation without intersectionality.

Today, we celebrate.
We honor.
And we continue the work.

Join us July 3 in Fort Lauderdale for the We The People March. Because the fight for freedom hasn't finished!

After months of silence, the Trump administration says the 988 LGBTQ+ crisis line is coming back. But before you exhale, read the fine print.
Press 3, the specialized 988 option that connected over 1.5 million LGBTQ+ youth in crisis with affirming, trained counselors, was shut down in July 2025 without warning. Now, with Congress appropriating $33 million to restore it, the administration has confirmed it will return. Under one condition: it must comply with an executive order that refuses to recognize transgender identities.
For a line designed to serve young people whose lives depend on being seen and affirmed, that condition is not a small footnote. It changes everything about what this service can actually be.
Here in Florida, where our youth are already living under some of the most hostile anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the country, an asterisk on a crisis line is not good enough. Our kids deserve unconditional support, full stop.

No one is coming to save us, so we show up for each other.

From the civil rights movement to today, young people have always been on the frontlines of change turning frustration into action and building movements that last.

As MLK said, it’s not enough to be angry. The real work is organizing, uniting, and transforming that energy into something powerful.

That’s what this moment is asking of us.

At PRISM, we believe change happens when we invest in each other, build our skills, and take responsibility for the future we want to see. There’s a place for everyone in this movement and we want to help you find yours.

Join us for our Volunteer Orientation on June 25 and learn how to get involved. Whether you’re brand new or ready to deepen your work, this is your moment.

June has long been recognized as Pride Month.

But this year, we’re seeing a shift.

In Florida, June has been declared “Faith and Family Month,” with language emphasizing a specific version of the “Biblical family unit” as the foundation of society.

And it’s not just here. Several states across the country are introducing similar designations, reframing what June represents.

Moments like this matter.

Because language, policy, and public messaging all shape who is recognized, who is supported, and who is left out.

And the reality is: not every family fits into one definition.

LGBTQ+ people and families have always been here.
And Pride has always been about visibility, community, and the right to exist fully and freely.

No proclamation changes that.

10 years later, we remember. And we won’t go back.

We honor the 49 lives lost at Pulse by continuing the work, protecting our spaces, and standing firm in who we are.

Their lives, their joy, and their legacy live on in all of us.

We remember. We carry them with us. Always.

The Miami-Dade School Board meets this Wednesday, June 17th and there are four agenda items on the table that deserve your attention.

Board Member is sponsoring three of them, pushing for fixes to the broken timeline that forces families to choose schools before knowing if their boundary is changing, real accountability in how the Superintendent is evaluated, and a formal process to make sure district decisions actually align with the community's strategic plan. Also on the table: a wave of charter school approvals that shift resources and enrollment across the district.
These aren't small procedural items. They're about how this district plans, communicates, and answers to the families it serves.

Swipe through for the full breakdown and then join us at the meeting Wednesday. Register through the Events tab on our site so we know you're coming. 📋

We were proud to be part of the Menstrual Equity Resource Fair alongside organizations like Promote Her Period, Youth Action Fund, Period Pantry, and AHF, coming together to share experiences, provide resources, and push this conversation forward.

Menstrual equity is about access, dignity, and making sure no one is held back because of something as basic as period care.

And the work doesn’t stop here.

We’re actively working on a campaign to ensure that every school in Broward County has accessible menstrual products for students, because access shouldn’t be a privilege.

Want to be part of it? Follow along and reach out to learn how you can support this work and help us move closer to menstrual equity in schools.
