In a resounding demonstration of grassroots community development, JCI Catarman Cocoking successfully rolled out “Project Drops of Hope: Cultivating Brighter Futures Through Hygiene” at 11:00 AM on May 14, 2026, in the remote community of Sitio Cevallos, UEP Zone III, Catarman, Northern Samar.
Operating under the umbrella of JCI Philippines’ National Program on Clean Water and Sanitation, the initiative was organized in special celebration of the birthday of esteemed JCI Member and Northern Samar 1st District Representative, Congressman Niko Raul S. Daza.
The project was executed under the leadership of 2025 Local Organization President Dave E. Gallano and conducted under the direct supervision of the current 2026 LO President, Atty. Joy E. Presado. Further strengthening the initiative's reach, JCI Catarman Cocoking partnered with the Youth for Northern Samar Development (YNSD), creating a unified front for youth-led civic action.
Project Drops of Hope was built on the core philosophy that every small gesture and every single drop of kindness contributes to a massive, life-altering impact. Recognizing that health and dignity are multifaceted, the joint team brought a holistic care package to the residents of Sitio Cevallos.
The intervention went far beyond basic sanitation by directly addressing the immediate nutritional and physical needs of the families:
𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝘀: Residents received kits containing essential items such as antibacterial soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels. Organizers emphasized that this was a deliberate delivery of "Hygiene, Care, and Hope" to protect the community from preventable illnesses.
𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Children were equipped with new pairs of slippers, providing them with immediate protection against soil-transmitted helminths and foot injuries.
𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: A warm, nutritious meal was prepared and served to the local children, bringing smiles and much-needed nourishment to the midday event.
𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: To support the household economy, parents were provided with 5 kilograms of rice each, offering immediate relief to families in the grassroots area.
Choosing to celebrate Cong. Niko Daza's birthday through an impactful health and welfare caravan reflects the JCI creed that "service to humanity is the best work of life." Instead of a traditional gathering, JCI Catarman Cocoking and YNSD channeled resources directly to those who need them most, transforming a personal milestone into a collective victory for public health.
The residents of Sitio Cevallos expressed immense gratitude for the timely, comprehensive intervention. For many families, the arrival of the organizers brought not only essential supplies but also the reassurance that their remote community remains a priority.
Through the success of Project Drops of Hope, JCI Catarman Cocoking and its partners have once again proven that real community transformation does not require monumental shifts overnight. Instead, it is built slowly, steadily, and beautifully—one drop of hope at a time.
